Nintendo does need their sport titles. Other genres can be get somewhere else, but not the sports games.

Look at FIFA in Europe. Nintendo should have a FIFA NS bundle for the holidays.

If Nintendo put the effort in, they could make their own Sports title that would crush the sales of all other sports titles. Just look at how much Mario Kart annihilates the sales of other racing games.

There's just one tiny problem to it: The rights for the names, clubs, outfits and stadiums. Nintendo doesn't have them, EA has the exclusive license in the case of Football (soccer for americans). PES did loose it's relevance because of that

Yeah FIFA and Madden NFL would be problems because EA has exclusive rights to licenses. If EA is not going to make a NHL game though I wouldn't mind Nintendo NHL Ice Hockey for the Switch though.

Capcom has USFII,MHXX for NS. Square has Dragon Quest XI,Dragon Quest Heroes 1-2,Dragon Quest X,Secret of Mana Collection,Octopath Traveler,I am Setsuna,Lost Sphere for NS. SEGA has Sonic Mania,Sonic Forces,Shin Megami Tensei V for NS.

So Capcom is pretty similar with basically just one major release -- MHXX, which is a port of a 3DS game. Lots of companies are not showing a lot for the Switch.

Capcom has released 1 more game than EA has and probably more on the way Capcom is doing what they always do. Port everything. Also sure ignore the rest even tho that's a lot of support from Square and Atlus putting one of it's flagship series on a console for the first time since PS2 and not a port. SMTV developed with UE4.

The problem with Star Wars Battlefront II is I think the game could run downgraded on the Switch docked (400 GFLOPS) ... but running it undocked would be a problem that would require a ton of work to get around.

Because they hate Nintendo

They don't care about any console maker. They care about money, and they simply make way more money on Sony/MS platforms. It's just a matter of priorities.

They are most likely cautious with the Switch and won't invest into it until they know that they can get something out of it, which makes sense really

Because most of EAs game run in frostbyte nowadays and they haven't ported the engine to Switch (yet...?).

The part of me that tries to look at the best side of a situation likes to think that and that a sincere FIFA port was a sign of good faith until they can get the engine ported over to the Switch.

Yeah, I'd love to see them port the engine. It's apparently very scalable and Switch has done well with the UE4 (also very scalable thanks to EG implementing special features for the Switch) ports it has gotten, so once they have the engine up and running, porting might be easy and quick. It's just that the initial effort of porting the engine over would take a lo of time and recources.

Probably next year. I just want NHL, and NHL doesn't even run on Frostbite from what I understand.

Just porting an engine doesn't magically mean performance isn't a problem either. Star Wars Battlefront II for example is only 900p on PS4 and 720p on XBox One.

XBox One is 3x the power of the Switch when docked like 8x more when undocked. You have to make likely some monstrous compromises and heavy redesign of the game code to get it to run on the Switch at anything acceptable if it makes even the XBox One sweat.

Honestly not sure about NHL, but it would be good for the Switch to get the full sports lineup, including storymodes.

That said I'd love to the something like battlefront or a new Dragon Age on it. Realistically I know in my gut that it's not going to happen, but I still wanna see it.
