Forums - Gaming - Dragon Ball Fighters announced for PS4, X1, and PC

I prefer the 3D DBZ fighting games over the 2D ones.

You know the Tenkaichi, and Xenoverse.

No a fan of the budukai ones that are 2d, so guessing will pass on this.

I haven't been this excited for a DBZ game since Budokai 3 (the best one to date btw). Can't wait!

Finally, a non-3D dbz game. 3D fighters are so overrated.

I'm surprised they chose xb1 over Switch. Surely it would sell more on Switch then xb1.

Anyway good to see the series live on.

I think they havent announced now because of xenoverse 2 just to not compromise sales with the announcement of another dbz game, maybe in the future if the sales numbers of xenoverse 2 be good i think the switch version will be announced.

Maybe but then you've got other titles like Ace Combat 7 announced for xb1 and not Switch. And again I'd expect that to do better on Switch.

2.5D fighting game due out worldwide in early 2018.

Bandai Namco has announced Dragon Ball Fighters, a new 2.5D fighting game for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC developed by Arc System Works (Guilty Gear) and due out worldwide in early 2018.

The game uses a three-versus-three team battle system, allowing players to determine the compatibility between characters and form a team of fighters. It will incorporate the “ultra high speed battles” and “flashy moves” that the Dragon Ball series is known for.

According to producer Tomoko Hiroki, while Dragon Ball titles of recent years have been 3D, they chose 2.5D this time because there were some things that can only be done in that style. While it looks like 2D animation at first glance, it has a broader range of expression as they can shift camera angles and incorporate a lot of unique production not possible in 2D alone.

It should be noted that the press release for this announcement is dated June 12, meaning that Bandai Namco accidentally shared this information ahead of its official reveal. A backup of the press release is available here. The official Japanese website will be available here when the game is officially announced.

I really hope it is like Budokai 3 on PS2 :).

And I hope it has an "arcade with story scale of power", so that it has the scale of power of the anime.   I remember how badass it was to defeat Brolly with Krillin even though every attack of mine was just scratching him LOL XD.    O with Bardock defeating SSJ4 Goku XD

Great days.

YEEESSSS, no boring xenoverse 3. More and more great Games on PS4 2018 !!
I hope, Dragon Ball Fighters is like "DBZ Budokai 3" : ) It was the best Dragon Ball-Fighting-Game ever (Gameplay) :)

So, does that mean that Arc System Works will go with the same graphics style that Guilty Xrd did? Or is it more like Super Smash Bros. graphics-wise?

Hell yeah. Hope they include lots of Super in there as well so I can (attempt) to whoop some angel ass.

Damn this announcement came out of nowhere!
This game has the potential to bring the Dragonball games back to their old glory!
