Forums - Microsoft - Xbox Scorpio Price / Release Date Revealed in Hidden Message?

I don't know the release date but I've been sure since they announced last year and only become more convinced with time that 399 will be the price. People only expect it to be more because they think its so much more advanced than it really is.

399 will seem like a bargain to anyone who is expecting a much higher price and it is in line with PS4 Pro pricing. Microsoft wouldn't dare go much higher given that the PS4 Pro is only accounting for 20% of PS4 sales, they don't want to price themselves out of the market when they'll still turn a profit at 399.

Agree, 399 would be the right price, considering number of sales and price of the PS4 pro. Yet it is still a much more powered console than the Pro, which could  mean that they need/want to opt for a little higher price of 449/499.

But it also comes down to how much it costs to manufacture 1x Scorpio. MS can surely handle a negative cash-flow for some time, but in the long run they need to make money.

Also it could be a matter of consumer perception. A more powerfull console must of course cost more than a less powerfull console.

But they are all competing for the same consumer money buying power.  If someone buys a Switch or a game for PS4, means less money available to buy another thing hence perhaps a scorpio.

Still a price of 399 excluding games, is a lot of money. Many would perhaps turn to the cheaper switch.

And also the PS4 pro will have its price slashed this holiday aswell, which would make a 399 Scorpio expensive once again

October 13th is a Friday. Not like they can't launch it then, but Friday the 13th being a bad luck superstition makes me think that's not likely. November 13th seems right on the money though.

XBOX - Nov 15
XB360 - Nov 22
XBOne - Nov 22
XBOSc - Nov 13

Interesting. Are those the US launches. Perhaps the Europe launch dates were different.

As USA is still the biggest market for the Xbox brand, they should opt for november i agree, in terms of Black Friday and Thanksgiving. Although November seems to be quite crampacked with AAA-games to buy. Perhaps still better in october, a little more quiet month

I'm still expecting $449, but it guess it mostly depends on how all in MS think they have to go with the Scorpio to remain competitive. If they think it's core to that, then them taking a moderate loss on each unit would likley be on the table.

I'm expecting $499 personally. Probably a November release too. You thinking October, November or sometime else entirely?

I used to think $499 was quite likley (ignoring them taking losses), but given they went cheap on the CPU i think they want to be at least relatively price competitive against the Pro. If they were looking at being potentially $150 more than the Pro (and $200 - $300 more than a normal PS4), i don't think they'd have done that. Still, i guess a lot also depends on what kind of production deals they have.

As for the date, early November seems pretty reasonable. That would let them capatalize on both Black Friday and Christmas, and let them build up enough stock to push both hard.

All Microsoft first party is confirmed to be 4k. Also, there is a list that shows star wars battle front 2, Cod and Destiny going to be running at 4k native. Sorry.

You mean the list from the fanboys at Windows Central?  The ones that said those games will look superior to the PC version?  I'll wait til official info comes out, thanks.

For most pc gamers, yes it will look superior. And Gez from window central is very reliable.

If that's the pricetag then MS is willing to bleed a serious amount of money. It's not even funny.

Yes but the RAM is a different story. You are talking about moving from 8GB of DDR3  to 12GB of GDDR5. Not only are they switching to the more expensive ram like the Playstation is using, they are increasing it by 4GB.

US launches yes, since that is the XB base. October is a possibility, but with there being so many games in November, I see that as even more of a reason to launch Scorpio at that time. Games sell consoles. A tonne of new (quality AAA) games in November is the perfect reason to buy a Scorpio if you are interested. Most specs fans and XB fanboys will buy the system regardless, so its about how you try to draw more customers into that higher end model, since XB1S isn't breaking through any barriers.

Add to that, Black Friday could be huge for Scorpio less than 2 weeks later. Whether the console drops at $399, which is less likely but possible, or even if it is priced higher, if the shelves end up empty for other consoles that have big deals since they've been out on the market for long enough, Scorpio will be there if you want a system now. It could also potentially lead to Scorpio selling out, which creates interest and hence demand, and also fantastic PR for the XB brand.

Getting the system out at a time when people are in a buying frenzy is a good idea, especially if Scorpio is a little pricey. It will give Scorpio an immediate sales boost, instead of potentially having to try and gain traction during a slower, quieter time, like October.
