Forums - Microsoft - Xbox Scorpio Price / Release Date Revealed in Hidden Message?

I'm going to go with it being the release date. I'm still thinking the price is going to be $449-$499. It may actually be what was recently rumored, $449 for a 500GB model and $499 for a 1TB model. I find it more interesting to see how Sony will answer it. Will they not care as much, and just announce a $50 cut in Sept? Or will they go aggressive and drop it by $100? A $299 Pro would absolutely kill. Probably be every 1 in 4 PS4s sold or even every 1 in 3. And is the rumor that Sony is designing a Pro Slim true, too?

I guess MS didn't like the 4>1 thing some fans used early in the gen, so they went 6>4. Of course, Sony has the numbers that really matter. 100M+  >  <50M.

Hmm, IGN posted a clearer picture of the trailer showing X105101-317 instead of the original code. I have no idea what that would change (as I noted, I'm firmly in the $399 1tb sku camp), but it makes the robot thing a bit more suspicious.

Sony wont drop the Pro price to $299 this year. It doesnt make sense for them to even if Scorpio sells really well at $399. Only way Sony will do a $299 Pro will be if Xbox starts outselling them which wont happen or if they start losing lots of sales which wont happen this year.

I can see them giving out a $50 price drop to Pro in September or October and then dropping it another $50 for the holiday period, but more likely it will be $349 with Destiny 2 and Battlefront 2 bundles, perhaps with LE system designs.

Xbox One X (10) sounds like a good name.

MS better hope they don't, as that would take the wind out of their sails before they even launch.  And it's not impossible.  We have had a rumor about a Pro Slim.  Some were thinking it was about a PS4 Super Slim, but I doubt it.  It would also be Sony's cost cutting coming to fruition.  Lowered cost thanks to no 4K Bluray drive.  Instead of a completely new GPU, they just doubled up on the one they have been ordering for the OG PS4 already.

Now, if the Scorpio is $399, I think Sony may go aggressive.  However, if it is $449+, I doubt they will feel the need to, and just cut it by $50.

There is gain to that though. Why rush and drop it to $299? PS4 will definitly be up YOY either way and Pro will sell just fine at $349. If were lucky some retailers might have special deals to get it to $329 but imo anyone expecting to get a Pro at $299 this holiday will be disappointed.

Why would they go aggresive? They are way ahead in sales and in this gen they havent seen to be very aggresive.

Xbox 399 would be sweet, it would put pro at 349, perhaps even 299 on black friday. Perfect time for me to buy a ps4 pro.

Can't wait to get an xbox scorpio. True 4k gaming/ 4k textures and not some fake 4k shenanigans a certain console is trying to pull of.
