Forums - Microsoft - "Feel True Power" Xbox Scorpio Teaser

ps4 pro is a nice interim model with a low cost approach to a performance upgrade and I suspect it will become the standard ps4 at some point offering better support for 4k tv's in the next few years. The older ps4 will stop being manufactured in a year or so. It just makes sense to make the ps4 pro the standard model when the ps5 becomes Sony's premium model. Anyone with an older ps4 will still get full support albeit at a lower resolution and frame rate. The pro just looks a product designed with that in mind because its not a huge upgrade more an enhancement.

PS4 Pro pushed the power angle as well. Because its the logical thing to do.

Sure, but todays market is different, than when PS4 pro launched. There was'nt any 'power'-console on the market at that time.

Now that there is, the Scorpio cannot simply play on the power thing. That is not enough.

You're actually right and its common sense.

At E3, the Scorpio won't just pushed as the "power console." The question what will be MS's angle? Will it be treated as a X1 reboot or a 9th gen platform?

I also suspect the lack of software announcments from MS is because they want to hype new content on Scorpio.

That

The only reason it is at the top now is because it started 100$ cheaper for better performance... Not games as it was the same and general consumer does not care that much. And then the domino effect could not be stopped with the big headstart

Listen, you guys can keep cherry picking why you think the PS4 is ahead, but the facts will remain.  It was the better HW with the better, more varied library.  If it was only price and power, the 360 should have smoked the PS3 last gen, since the price gap was $200, $100 more than it was this gen, and it had better multiplats for the first year or two.  Yet, somehow the PS3 still caught up and passed the 360.  Why?  It was the better HW, in terms of failure rate and features included, and it had the larger, more varied library.  It also helps that PS is just a bigger brand.  There's a reason the XBO is down YOY, even though you can get one for $249 or less.

And an upgraded model, most likely priced ~$449, of a console that is performing poorly is not going to change those facts.  Especially since the Pro, which is already doing well, is going to do even better once it hits $299-$349 this holiday season, and stock is readily available.

There is no cherry picking, it is what it is. Best hardware for 100$ less. Sold like hot cake, simple. The one cherry picking is you when you ignore our responses here actually. Plenty of post explained the big difference between the 360 and the PStation Three and the situation (and huge initial gap) between the PStation Four and the Xbox One.

Did they just tease RDR2 for their E3 press conference?!

Welp, their E3 is gonna be all about specs and 4K isn't it. Expecting very few exclusive game announcements, if at all, and more talk about performance profiles and teraflopzzz.

But is this a real teaser? Because OP's video is not from the official Xbox channel

This is never gonna happen. The selling point of the PS5 is that it will be a new gen with new games. There will be cross gen multigames like always but the exclusives will be made with new hardware in mind only.

The older PS4 wil be under $199 for the people looking to buy a cheap console, the Pro won't supersede it unless they get to a stage where sub $199 pricepoint is profitable for them.

Sony's plans are different, unlike MS which sounds like they're making an iterative platform. Downside to that is they're shackled by 2013 hardware until they announce a cut off point where they decide to make Scorpio only games, and by then it will be lower spec to PS5.
