Yeah, the XBO is overtracked in the US, and the PS4 a little undertracked.

For April, VGC has the PS4 at 193,137 (NPD had it at 210k I think), and the XBO at 172,986 (NPD had it at no more than 140k).

On the other hand, Switch tracking is almost perfect, with VGC saying it sold 283,438 (Nintendo said 280k). The 3DS was also overtracked. VGC says it sold 85,395 (Nintendo said 68k).

Come on, let's not complain about a 17k overtracking, so small error and  it possibly  rectifies a previous undertracking...

True, true, but it's still a little overtracking. No harm pointing it out

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Pretty good numbers, I wonder how well it'd do without supply constraints.

I wonder if back then I said that those were great numbers, because seeing them now, I think they're kinda tragic. Not  even MK8 could save that badly conceived console.

Anyone else surprised by 3DS sales? Only down by about 25% yoy. I thought it'd drop more quickly.

It has just had its lowest April, lowest March, and lowest Feb to date. Honestly it's for the best that it dies, so that more support can go to Switch, a machine that has a long future ahead of it.

Having the lowest months is what you'd expect out of a system that's going into its seventh year, even without another new competing product.  With a new product, I'd expect a steeper drop.

Another one person who finds that good, I don't disagree but there is a specific Australian, that considers that as killed by switch...

What would you say if apprise you that as of April 3DS had stock issues ( since January ) ...

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=227683&page=1

* 2DS has sold out again after recent restocking , it's only available at gamestop!

At this point, you'd expect at least a 15%ish drop YOY... although, it could be down big over the holidays.

As for a stock issue, it's interesting, but when I was working at best buy during early 2010s, we had Vita shortages regularly.  Wasn't necessarily a sign it was doing well.

Nintendo forecast for 3ds in FY16 was 5m, it was increased to 6m after Pokemon GO, and fairly later to 7m, they ended up selling 7.3m ( Pokemon S/M ) ...

It sold out all of its stock in the USA on holidays, and you can guess what ensued...

Also, it's highly likely that the same happend in Europe, boost from pokemon go and the sales after that were equal between these two markets! Maybe just 2DS sold out there,  last year 2DS account for the 50% of 3DS sale in Europe...

I hope you read rol's enlightening post in the link that I quoted you previously...

Aren't you still working at best buy ?

Nintendo is about to fix the stock issues once and for all with the release of the best 3DS ever revision, which cost 50$ less than New 3ds xl, New 2ds xl in the end of July... Well, if thee amount of units that will be made will be congruent with the demand forestalling a probable selling-out...

You must have done that...

Eh, for wii u standards ( before 2014 ) that was more than great...

Maybe if that have been accompanied by a brave price cut ( which was prohibitive, - long story - ) ...

A game won't save a console that its price vexes consumers and even more when the consoles itself is unattractive!

MK8 had a positive effect on wii u sales for 6 months, it doubled the baseline. ( okay the 35k became 70k but that's something )

I contributed to those numbers! This should really put away any doubt in Switch's long term success as it's well proven now that Nintendo games can sell systems this time unlike on Wii U, and the Switch has all Nintendo games headed for it! The sales after Splatoon, Pokemon, 3D Mario, Animal Crossing, etc. are gonna be massive! ...bar supply constraints ofc!
