Forums - Sales - Increased HDTV's sales have significantly increased PS3 sales.

Does anyone share the same belief that increased HDTV's have significantly increased PS3 sales? there is a direct relationship between the growing demand of HDTV's and PS3 demand has grown in demand in direct relation. As HDTV's have become more and more popular and cheaper, the PS3 is a good extra to buy for the HDTV which does so many things. PS3 plays games on HDTV in amazing resolution and Blu-ray movies have never looked so real life on a high resolution HDTV.

BTW: I should of fixed the thread title to:"PS3 launch has significantly increased HDTV sales"

European and Australasian countries have offered sales promotions where 40 inch and a above Sony Bravia 1080P LCD or Plasma TV's have been given away PS3 console offers with every HDTV for a limited time only. Obviously the HDTV market is Sony's most profitable industry where lots of money is being made on HDTV sales. Giving away a PS3 or two would further increase HDTV sales, especially when the world economy is slowing down.

Well ps3 sales have been inflated in Australia because of the ps3 Bravia deal. 20,000 extra ps3's or something along those lines are now in the market. Its not a bad deal as its still profitable and could potentially lead to more games sales and obviously BR sales.

In regards to the correlation between HDTV sales and ps3 sales beyond the bundle thats already been mentioned I can't really say anything for or against your point as I don't know to be honest.

How about a Sony Bravia Tv includes an inbuilt PS3 console system. Yeah instead of a inbuilt Blu-ray player put in a PS3 console. That sounds like a brilliant idea.

Correlation does not equal causation. As production costs decrease so do prices, for HDTV's and PS3's. As prices decrease you encounter more people willing to shell out the money to buy one. You will find this is true with any product, there's nothing special or different about the PS3 in this case.

Wouldn't it have an equal relationship to 360 sales? HDTV adoption gets bigger every year, so this isn't that much of a surprise.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

No people buy HDTV's in Europe and Australia mainly to watch sports and HD consoles including both PS3 and XBox 360.

Why not X360. They are both HD consoles and right now there are more 360's in others than PS3. So if HD tv's are selling more I would guess more would be used for 360, IMO.

It will have about as much of an impact as the adoption of broadband internet increased the sales of the XBox ...

There are a couple of things to consider about this, first off it has been noted several times in the past that the #1 selling feature of flat-panel HDTVs are that they're flat-panel TVs; few people bought into HDTVs until LCD/Plasma HDTVs were affordable even though CRT HDTVs were higher quality and less expensive. The second thing to consider is that earlier this year it was reported that (something like) 70% of Wii owners played their Wii Systems on an HDTV ...

All the "hddvd is dead BR won PS3 has it" news and of course BRs success in Europe, thats why not a 360.

Op iam sure it hepled the PS3, its a overall strategy for Sony corp as a whole. BraviaHDtvs/BluRay/Playstation3 all 3 are connected and all 3 are a huge part of Sonys business. Success in one will help the other, they then slefs have pushed it with TV/PS3 bundles.
