Forums - Nintendo - Take-Two believes in Switch, will support it “selectively”

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick spoke during a technology event earlier today. One topic discussed was none other than Switch.

Zelnick expressed interest in Switch, stating that Take-Two believes in the system. He also acknowledged the “very successful launch.” As far as support goes, Take-Two won’t be putting everything on Switch, but will bring out select titles.

Zelnick’s full words:

“We believe in it. We see it the way [Nintendo does]; it’s been a very successful launch. It remains to be seen how it does, but we’re excited about it. Assuming there is an installed base, we’ll be there. Not with all of our titles, but selectively.”

Nintendo and "AAA" third parties in a nutshell:

That's fine. I don't think anyone is expecting GTAVI or RDR2, but a GTAV port and yearly NBA2Ks would be fine. Switch does not need every major third party game, it just needs some games to supplement what Nintendo does, particularily in a few key genres. It's a different situation. Sony and MS *need* all of those games, Nintendo doesn't.

I can easily see an X-Com on Switch... also, Bioshock and Borderlands remaster (or relaunches) don't seem unlikely. Heck, all 3 games are available for iPads...

Yeah there you go. All three of those IP would be welcolme on the Switch. There's lots of practical ways for third parties to give Nintendo solid support, it doesn't have to be an "all or nothing" proposition.

All Nintendo really needs is

1.) A couple of FPS shooters, a couple of action-adventure games, and the main yearly sports IP from the Western devs (FIFA, NBA2K, and Madden namely).

2.) RPGs and Monster Hunters from Japanese devs, maybe a Resident Evil here and there.

3.) The same indie stuff they're already getting.

If they can get basically that, they're good.

I'll be fine with NBA 2K and a port of Red Dead 1.

Thanks for being honest, that's all I ask. If you want to support something selectively that's fine, if it's for some stupid reason that doesn't make sense, that's when I hate that reasoning.

It would be cool if they ported some of their older games, maybe to virtual console.

Same.
Just be straight up with us 3rd parties. Don't sugarcoat it and get our expectations up just to be disappointed later. Give us your true intentions that way we know what to expect. That's all we ask.

Just put SA on Switch. V sucks so if it doesn't end up on Switch, a shoulder shrug from me.
