That's only an 8% attach rate.

Again, Zelda BotW is more popular on Switch than GTA V is on PS4, and clear facts proved that, around 80% Switch owners bought Zelda BotW, for instance around 25% PS4 owners bought GTA V.

I stopped taking this thread seriously when you said Zelda is more popular on switch than GTA V on PS4. Ofcourse it will be popular as thats the only game to play on a console which is selling because it has one good game and just hype, like Fidget spinner. Even still I m pretty sure GTA V will dwarf the Zelda No if we had data to see who only bought PS4 to play GTA. And when you have a huge diversity of library people will buy console for their respective games and that doesnt always means top selling game has to be on it.. comparing attach rate should be on the equal no of console or equal no. of time on the market.. would love to see the numbers of GTAV sold on PS4 when it was launched on PS4 compared to zelda's two month.
to give u more perspective about ur logic of attach rate = popularity. Twilight princess on Wii and gamecube released similarly to breath of wild on launch with Wii and it had almost similar attachrate to breath of wild, every 3 game sold for 4 wii's. But look 100 million wii sold and just 7 million of TP. even worst than 9m Uncharted 4 on 60m PS4.
Also How can you expect new IP's from sony to compete with well established franchises? thats just absurd, the only IP's sony have on the level of the popularity of those top ten games on there is Uncharted and its up there and others are God Of War and The Last of US Part II.
Some fans of another system that's lacking 55mill sales behind ps4 are getting verry desperate.

this is bullshit, the attachrate has nothing to due with the popularity (i gave you an example on last page). when you are talking about popularity, the main criteria is the number of sales. So, i repeat once again, because you wrote in the title << 1st party games are not quite popular on PS4>>how do you know if a game is popular or not ? Please answer me with exact numbers. |
Lol, attach rate has all with popularity of some game on some platform, you do realise that on same platform attach rate is same like sales!? I gave you example for GTA V and U 4 on PS4, but if you trying to compare popularity of same game on different platforms with different user base, you need to use attach rate, all 3rd party games sold better on PS4 compared to XB1, but if you look you will see they actualy have similar attach rate.
Very simple, only 3 1st party games are in top 30 best selling PS4 games.

Yes, it's definitely because that doesnt have anything with fact that one best critically acclaimed games of all times, but that not even point, point was that I used comparison that attach rate doesn't mean better sales if you comapring attach rate on difrent platforms. GTAV on PS4 will most likly end up above 20m, hardly Zelda BotW will hit that number, optimistic predictions are around 10m for Zelda BotW.
1st party is never a focus on consoles unless its Nintendo. Same can be said for MS most likely only Halo up there as there best 1st party game.
I laugh when gamers say its all about 1st party exclusive than look at these charts and am like.. umm sure.
Steam proves 1st party exclusive dont mean much.

we are discussing about popularity in general, like your title says. Popularity (sales) has nothing to do with the atach rate if we speak about two different consoles (which you did, don't know why)
About the second one, this is so wrong, you want to say that if a game is not in the top 30, it's not popular ? lol no

It matters in terms of appeal to a specific console compared to another. Steam is pretty much the established means to buy games on pc and has no competition in that.

I like this thread. I like this thread a lot! It's not clear why the OP made it though. *Looks at OP's avatar* Oooohhhhh...
