Forums - Microsoft - What can Microsoft do to compete with the PS4 and Switch this holiday?

I think the Xone S and Scorpio are meant for a different audience to begin with. The PS4 is going to hit the $200 mark so it has to compete with that. On its own the Xone will lose from PS4 but if the Xone gets a bundle of $200 and 2/3 older games while the PS4 only gets a $225 bundle with one game, probably Horizon it stands a chance to win US. Sony did a bundle with GTA 5 and The last of us remastered and that did great during the holidays.

Yeah a Horizon with a PS4 slim bundle is pretty likely and I do think they will bring back the Star Wars bundle back for Battlefront 2. Since they would pretty be crazy not to espically with the release of The Last Jedi just a month later.

So I am putting my money on a an exclusive star wars marketing deal for Xone and Battlefront II. That will help in the US since Sony will have a great holiday in Europe with GT sport. I have no idea how they can compete in Europe this year though. The Switch will do decently in Europe and good in the rest of the world. PS4 will probably sell good everywhere but NA being relatively the weakest market. Xone will sell good in UK and USA and not so good in the rest if the world.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Nothing.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

maybe a bundle with the New Assassins Creed game and The Elder Scrolls VI? its the only thing comes to my mind for a appeal bundle.

Scorpio 399$, slim 200 for holidays. Do those 2 things and they will be fine. Even if they don't get a big unannounced game crackdown, forza, SOD2, AND SOT need to shine and review well. That being said a exclusive or a timed exclusive wouldn't hurt. Splintercell?

Their biggest problem for the the back end of the year is all those marketing deals Sony has. I'm not that worried about switch taking sales. I mean a 200$ slim will be cheap as hell next to switch and Scorpio is for a different type of gamer.

If they can do all that; right price, well received exclusives, and either 1 big unannounced game or 2 smaller ones. They will do just fine. If Scorpio is 500$ and they don't take slim down to 200 it won't matter how good their games are it would be a blood bath.

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

Maybe do some really good deals and have a few hidden blockbuster games ready. Other than that, there's not much else.

Actually Sony already has the marketing for Star Wars.

New IP that really push the Scorpio hardware to its limits.

Or buy Nintendo.

Easy. Get Halo 6 out as soon as possible to go with the Scorpio and xbox will be competitive again. Maybe not this holiday but some time next year.

The first thing Microsoft needs is an open world rpg in the vain of skyrim, breath of the wild, or Horizon Zero Dawn. While they should not abandon their holy trinity (Halo, Gears, Forza) they need a new ip asap. No Jrpgs, RTS, or MMO will fill the void of a single-player open world rpg.

Problem with MS has always been lack of exclusives compared to Sony from year 2-3 until the end of that gen. The only problem is last year it didn't show so much since they led the gen against Sony for most of it and had most the marketing deals. This time however, those cracks are really showing and without the lead and marketing deals, you can really see the tough spot they are in.

The Switch has proven it can sell even being more expensive than a PS4S and Xbox One S. It's even pricier than a Pro which is being bundled by Game with two games, Now TV for £349.

The PS4S is selling really well WW and the Pro sends to be doing better with time. If Sony do another price drop, MS will have to beat them in price and release the Scorpio at £399 with a game. However, I think MS know they can't compete and won't take a financial hit for the sake of it. Scorpio will probably come out at £449 without a game unless they bundle it with a digital copy of Halo or Gears.

Honestly. Xbox bundle at 250 with three free titles and a year of Gold membership free.

But don't kid yourself. Nintendo already won this holiday season. Everyone else is playing for second. With the switch and a expected 3DS price cut to push remaining inventory, it's going to be a YUGE Christmas. Possibly the best Christmas ever. Believe that.
