Wtf? Is this week normal? 2 weeks ago Switch was doing above 40k+... Is that a quiet period in Japan?

Yes, the weeks post-Golden Week are the toughest period of the year. I think it was two years ago that a May week hit an all-time low for Media Create hardware sales tracking (MC tracks since ~20 years).

I am not sure if Switch is selling through all of its shipments right now. At 40k a week, that would leave ~30k units on store shelves from the past two weeks. Or maybe Nintendo adjusted the allocations for the individual regions because demand in North America is notably higher right now. 25-30k units per week for Japan still result in a comfortable #1 spot and that's what good PR is about; Nintendo wants to hit it big in the USA too.

Increased Switch production should become visible by July, or more specifically, by the time Splatoon 2 launches.

Thanks Rol, I was getting kinda nervous

Well there could be more behind the scenes that doesnt meet the eye. It all just points to nintendo being overly conservative since what happen with wiiu.

If it wasnt such a problem they be doing just that. You cant just flip the SWITCH and production will automatically double. Nintendo probably gave out there stock in advance and it finally caught up

No one's asking for double the production. 40k/week in Japan is not terribly hard to make nor does it require double the production.

At least produce 85% of the 3DS volume for its first year. This isn't good enough, if their "plan" is to stay in the 20ks in Japan until ARMS or Splatoon 2 launch, it's a dumb plan.

Asking for 750k/month isn't asking for a lot, they should be able to make 750k units/month.

Nintendo had trouble to make more than 800k units for 3DS in the last quarter globally, and you ask for 750k units per month for one market and with the switch hardware...

Hahhaahah!

Also, why the h@ll produce 750k per month for one market, when you will be selling at most 350k ( I think I exaggerate ) in that territory? Soundwave ratiocinate, you imply overproduction and by extend overstuffing the store shelves.

Edit: Unless, you mean worldwide or you made a typographical error, two times ( 750k -> 75k ) ...

Looks like a slow month for hardware, and Switch stock continues to have shortages in Japan.

I think they are both reallocating units to the west and holding back units for ARMS and especially Splatoon 2 launch (and Obon week shortly thereafter) after getting in first reports about it's HUGE demand, especially in Japan. Also probably a few get derived to produce the upcoming Splatoon 2 bundles (though possibly that bundle gets produced on one of the new production lines, especially the japanese one with the new colors and inkluded stickers)

So all in all, while the production lines might be producing more units already right now, with so many units getting to the marked at a later time there is a slump in delivered units right now

everything was pretty slow that week?.. i mean.. less than 100k total software sales over the week.. granted it's just retail.. but japan is not that heavy in digital as far as i know (internet is scary)

I'm speaking globally, 750k/month alone for Japan would be idiotic, that's just common sense.

MK to soon pass Zelda. Which is a shame, that people prefer the remaster over a new game. But MK brand too strong compared to Zelda in Japan.

Its not point about remaster over new game, but fact that MK is more appealing game than Zelda, MK game was always outselling Zelda game on same platform. Have on mind that MK8 sold 8.3m on instal base of 13.5m on Wii U. Also, for most of people, MK8D is/it will be brand new game not reamster, because Wii U ofcourse.

I suspected it but we're on media create thread though, not global hardware sales ( vgc ) and I wanted to tease you a bit heh...

Anyway, Nintendo restocked a black New 3ds xl and MK7 2DS new color scheme in may in the USA ( 3ds sold out in the west on holidays, it exceeded a lot Nintendo expectations for three consecutive quarters ),  4 months later for these only... The 2ds has sold out once again!

If Nintendo has  so big difficulty with  restocking 3DS and by extend producing it, imagine with switch...

Also, they are preparing for New 2ds xl launch.

3DS line taking quite the hit now it seems, also; PS4 Pro has an unusually high sales ration in Japan, it has sold pretty poorly in the West according to reports. This is quite surprising to me, to be honest.
We're headed into the boring months now, summer is a snoozefest, Japan isn't any different in that regard.

I wouldn't be surprised if the PS4 Pro/PS4 ratio is about the same worldwide with PS4 Pro being about 20% of PS4 sales.
