Forums - Nintendo - Rumour: Nintendo games like New Super Mario Bros. will launch on Nvidia Shield in China.

According to market analyst Daniel Ahmad, Nintendo and Nvidia may have signed a commercial deal to take Kyoto home games on Shield , Nvidia's console.

Basically Nintendo and Nvidia have a content share agreement to put old Nintendo games on Shield. Basically Nintendo and Nvidia have a content share agreement to put old Nintendo games on Shield.

As reported on Twitter, the first classified game in China is New Super Mario Bros and recently was also ranked The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (originally released on the Wii and Game Cube). The two games have never arrived in the country, as did Nintendo Switch and according to Ahmad this strategy could help the Kyoto home to spread its video games right in China.

According to Ahmad, the deal would only concern older games. The arrival of exclusive Shield Switches, at least in China, is now completely excluded.

Obviously at the moment there is nothing confirmed.

So will Nvidia so something in return for the Switch? who knows

If this ends up being true, it makes me wonder if those games could come to the Switch itself as well, seeing as the hardware is mostly the same between the Switch and the Shield. Also, NSMB is a pretty weird choice, being a DS game and all. I wonder how that would look like.

Yeah it basically means these games must already run on Switch, since it's basically a Nvidia Shield chip.

I'm not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure it would most likely be a port of NSMB Wii, just without the 'Wii' part cause it would be releasing on another platform.

That's what I'm thinking too. Wouldn't make sense to port a DS game, remove the dual-screen stuff and also upgrade the graphics to look decent on a TV when you have a console equivalent of that game that's way easier to port and just needs a resolution bump to look good.

Gotta break into the market somehow...and also...this bodes well for DS emulation on Switch!

I dont know if I believe this. If the argument is to break into the market, I dont see that working(Shield is not popular there, is it?).Plus its not like old games are going to convince people to buy other Nintendo related hardware.

I dont know, it just makes more sense to just launch the Switch there. If price is a problem, then just hold off one year and launch when you can produce it cheaper.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

So, Nvidia Shield will work out a bit like their iQue solution... Nintendo comes up with the games, Nvidia with the HW and at the end of the day, they both benefit from this.
I could see this working.
