Starsky and Hutch - PS2 Era - is legit one cool game. Player 1 drives the car in 3rd person, Player 2 shoots enemies akin to a light gun game.

Brilliant.

I think something like that happened before with an arcade game called Lucky and Wild:

I played that game! I was so close to gettting the top score at the arcade!

Personally, I guess I'd want something like an eroge and drama/horror or something like that. Basically, an eroge that either disturbs you or makes you feel guilty for playing the game. One that actually has a good story, and that makes it the main focus over the erotic parts!

Katawa Shoujo?

Was gonna say I bet you could find something like that. But then Viv comes straight in with the example

Well, to be fair, it's not really horror or disturbing but for some it's uncomfortable. Also for the memes!

LeagueofLegends still as a MMO, then Becomes FPS when engaged with another Champions

Super Mario RPG (snes)

It had decent platform elements in it, dispite it being a good RPG.

Also had puzzles.

Semi open world game a la Yakuza with dungeons, has action RPG elements

The paths to the dungeons are roads/highways where you have to race

I sometimes like to think about which two genres (or more) could work best together when combined. Kinda like how Pikmin mixed real-time strategy with puzzle gameplay, or how Metroid Prime is essentially a Metroidvania mixed with a first-person shooter.

So what are some genre mash-ups that you'd like to see in future games? Or what are some that you've seen before but want to see again?

Metroid Prime is literally just a first person Metroid game. It's no different than Super Metroid other than perspective. It's First person Action Adventure. It's not a FPS.

Buut you're shooting creatures in a first-person perspective. How is that NOT a first-person shooter?

Because the mechanics are not the same at all. If I go play Doom I shoot everything up front.  Bosses are just unleash everything. Metroid is weak points and like Zelda and past Metroid games light puzzle elements to beating a boss. You also don't shoot all the time. It has much more emphasis on exploring.  FPS tend to be linear but Prime much like the 2D games you back track a lot. You upgeade weapons and some weapons don't work on some enemies. A typical FPS evertything kills everything. Prime rewards exploration rather than death count. It has puzzle elements to unlock new areas. It's in every single way a 2D Metroid in a FP perspective. That's the only difference.
