Forums - Nintendo - eShop currency exchange: Canada and Norway cheapest

Reddit's come up with an automated price list from a few regional websites stores (oriental ones are missing due to this).

Taking into account exchange rates, best deals come from Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Mexico, Norway and South Africa. After seeing a few complaints with Canadian prices, I thought they were getting a tough deal.

I'd assume a fair few of the complaints about Canadian (and Australian) pricing because they are comparing directly with the USD prices, not factoring in that their currencies aren't as valuable as USD.

lol someone from Canada was complaining on that reddit that the options for a $20 US game in Canada and their currency are ~$24, ~$26, or ~$28.

Current exchange rate: $20 US dollars = $27.24 Canadian Dollars.

Technically, the first couple prices they were complaining about were good deals.

Usually us Aussies complaining is just because of how bad it was in the past. Things are pretty great now an I can often pick up games on day 1 for $60 USD. The only reason you would pay more is digital or not paying any attention to prices at different stores. We have 4 main stores that sell games here and the difference can vary as much as $30 on a $99 AUD game. At the very least you should he able to save a tenner of RRP.

That's an interesting list

The Canadian dollar is really weak though :/

The main reason here is that the prices jumped because the value of the dollar lowered, but wages didn't actually go up, so for us it just felt like a 25% price increase.

I don't recall anything huge in the past decade (excluding the market crash). Is it still low from the 2007 economic crisis, or is it for a different reason?

The American economy started to recover, and oil prices went down, which caused the Canadian dollar to lower in value compared to the US.
