I think even just more generally Switch is going to have a more hardcore audience. Not all of it of course, but a bigger chunk than the Wii or Wii U or DS or 3DS did.
Why? Because it's a premium gaming device as far as portables go. It's the most high end game portable ever made. Not only that it's the first time Nintendo's large scale brand new AAA games are going to be available ... on the portable side immediately. Zelda: BoTW, Mario Odyessy, Splatoon 2, Xenoblade 2 ... these are games the 3DS/DS would never get the first time out. On top of things like Skyrim, NBA 2K, FIFA, etc. This is simply stuff the Game Boy/DS/3DS never had before. This will have appeal to even the most hardcore gamers who have a PS4/XB1 who want something better than their phone to play on the go.
This thing is going to sell more to hardcore gamers than the Wii U and perhaps even the 3DS did. It simply has more appeal hardware wise to that audience.
