The point is when you say "best ever" it has some different possible interpretations.
The best game now, the best game for its time, the best game overall.

Tekken 3 and 5 where great games for their time, Tekken 3, IMO, still remains the most impressive fighting game I've ever seem, for its time, obviously better technology allows newer games to be mechanically very superior to those games, which makes them better now almost by default, but not by default as important or good as those games where in their own time. Do you see where am I coming from?

For example, the reason people say Ocarina of Time was the best Zelda ever was because of its impact and how good it was in the time it released, while it is obviously mechanically very inferior to later games released on stronger hardware.

Yes, we're saying the same thing.  Tekken 6 wasn't a good game, because it was on the PS3, yet somehow, only slightly better than Tekken 5.  Tekken 7 should have been the best game, and it is.  However, Street Fighter V, is inferior to SFIV, in everything except graphics.  I get what you're saying because that was the point I was trying to make.

But, those games were even more liked by people because they came off the heals of bad games in the series.  Tekken 2 was clunky, stiff, and had no damage scaling (or was that T1)  Tekken 1, I know had no damage scaling, but Tekken 3 definitely had damage scaling.  And, again, people didn't like tekken 4, Tekken 5 did a lot of things right, though.

But, who's really going to play those games over tekken 7?  TTT1, or TTT2, I can understand, but, the others.. meh, I don't know.  I mean, I'm saying all of this, and I own tekken 1-7 and TTT1, 2.

So, what are people thoughts on the new characters? (minus Jack-7 obviously).

Shaheen - Nice design but simplistic combat to me.
Lucky Chloe - Unique design and great fun to play, very technical if trying to perform rhythm based moves.
Claudio - Kind of dull honestly, didn't enjoy what I practiced of him, others might disagree.
Josie - Not really had a decent go, nice character and decent fighting style but not sure she stands out.
Katarina - My favourite of the lot, similar style between Lee and Hworang which I can get behind, will play her more.
Gigas - Marduk replacement right? (is Marduk?)
Akuma - God playing SF style in Tekken was hard and unexpected. But the cheese Rage Art will get old.
Kazumi - Quite fun but not sure I'll play her much.
Master Raven - is Raven so not new. :P

Your thoughts?

Hmm, pie.

Katarina is cool, story mode made me hate Kazumi, so, I refuse to pick her.  I hate lucky chole, and Raven and Akuma are cool.  All the rest, I don't like.

I am maining:

Yoshimitsu, Feng Wei, Lili, Leo, Law, and maybe Heihachi, or Paul.

But, I hate lucky chloe so much, I will be training with her a lot.  I will become good with her so I know how to fight her, but i will never, EVER pick her outside of training.. I hate her that much, I swear I will never lose to her.

You're missing some nice touches with her. When she dances you can make her count to 6. When you reject a throw, she does a little dance.

Plus she's fun, and isn't that what Tekken is about? Fun. Else you'll be as bad as those Twitter moaners moaning about her not being a manly man while a fighting Panda exists in the game.

Also, anyone else notice Leo's story refers to Leo as 'he' and 'his'? But Leo is a girl. Harada keeping with his 'what gender are they' thing, even now.

Hmm, pie.

I have not touched any of the new characters as of yet. Still mastering my style with Paul, Bryan and Law right now. Once I get them down and feel all the way comfortable with them I will move on to my next 3 which are Dragunov, Steve and Miguel......and they might take a while lol. And even still after them I have Lili and Asuka. So it will be a NICE while before I even try out the new characters smh. But I will get to them and just from looking the 3 I will more than likely pick up are Shaheen, Claudio, Master Raven and Katarina.

Trying my hand a bit more at Lucky Chloe, her Rage Art is one that's easy to combo, I mostly use Lee's a counter. She has some nice combos and well, as said before is fun.

Has anyone had a proper look at the character customisation stuff? It's lacking in comparison to 6 but better than Tag 2. 6 was great, I made some outfits for people that made them more badass but in this... well let just say lack of a tux for Lee is sad.

I honestly feel it is lacking. Maybe I just need to unlock more stuff in treasure and tournament battles but for me they are lacking. Though I must say I have found some pretty nice things for my current main 3 of Paul, Bryan and Law.

So, how is the story mode? How long does it take to beat?

If you don't skip anything I think I spent around 2 hours on Heiachi.  If you just skip to the battles you're looking at about half an hour.
