What was the Wii U's and 3DS first year sales?

Anyway, I will put FY since 10m is FY aim...

3DS 13.42M  ( FULL FY 11/12 corresponds to switch FY17/18M )

WII U 3.45m+ 460k 3.91m ( FY12/13 Q3-Q4 & FY13/14 Q1/Q2 ) 

Switch was released in March while wii u in November, switch has a full fiscal year after its launch month  in front of it, wii u had a half, so I combined it with the first half of the following FY for a proper comparison.

The only way it doesn't sell 10 million is if they ship less than that.
Otherwise, I believe that the Switch will reach 10 million units sold by Christmas.

3DS sold the 8.4m of that number in the holidays quarter, Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land effect but without the brave  price drop in August, the boost from the games wouldn't be the same...

I definitely expect it will happen, not sure why he's being cautious about it.

because pokemon wont be release til 2nd fiscal year :P

Too vague to mean much. Perhaps he just ment that they won't reach 10 million by sitting back and doing nothing, or that 10 million is not a 100% guarantee since mistakes could always happen. I'd say he is just being modest, Nintendo is surely aware that the 3DS well accomplished this feat with far less going for it.
