Crystal Dynamics isnt a publisher, and truth be told if it wasnt for Naughty Dog, they wouldnt be back in the game, but yes...id say in their current state they could be a player.

He's talking about the Square Enix Marvel games.

I have no clue about how they are going to do with that (because of their track record with superhero/normal action games), but given Squares Track record since Tomb Raider, Deus Ex and FFXV they should also be ones to watch. I believe they published Neir Automata as well. I just got Platinums title published by them. I cant wait to play it.

I have high hopes for this game, hopefully it is as good as Spiderman 2 on the PS2.

I am not a huge fan of movie based games in general. Most of them turn out to be garbage. I believe Mad Max was decent however there far and few that actually are any good. Movie based games are cash grabs to help sell movie tickets and Movie tickets to help sell video games. Its all a hype fest and the amount of budget and time to make them are a lot less than a tradition AAA game.

Yeah... thank god im not referring to activision or EA. Sony has more patience and first and second party contracted people to handle it. Not only that but they actually have the licensing rights to the ip for their movies. I don't believe they would dare launch a half assed title with the movie like activision and EA though. Sony has developmental patience.

It's not a movie based game. In fact, it's been explicitly stated that his game tells an original story. It's based on a character and a world and a theme that comic books have been telling for decades. Just like the batman arkham series, which turned out to define it's genre and set a new bar for what an open world superhero driven game can be. Pretty sure they've all sold and reviewed well. Spider man + Sony + Insomniac is definitely a winning combo

No offense, but Volition have nothing on Sonys devs, specially on a story driven open world level.  Microsoft has never created a new IP in house or even second party on par with even Infamous. I dont even haven to go further up the list. With that said, I hope Volition makes Crackdown a major player, because Microsoft needs it right now. I could also use a different style of third person shooter on my Xbox right now. Lets hope the real time destruction is balanced out well with the single player too. Im hoping they prove me wrong.

The best work of Imsoniac and Sucker Punch dates back to the PS2 era. Nothing they have done since comes close.

Um....the Ratchet and Clank Remake and Sunset Overdrive. have you played either? Its a damn shame the Xbox fans have not supported Sunset Overdrive either, because its the best new IP the Xbox One has seen this gen (in terms of overall quality and polish). Proof is in the sales, and now Phil Spencer is looking elsewhere because of it. I mean, he will look for some single player experiences, but not as much as before now.

Answer : YES.

I disagree, but are you like R&C remake or sunset as much or more than Going Comando or Up Your Arsenal? Just curious.

Probably, especially since they were likely the only option. They still own the rights to the Spiderman-movies, and I wouldn't be surprised if one of the conditions for them allowing the character to get into the Marvel Cinematic Universe was an exclusive rights for the character in video games for a certain period of time at least.
