Forums - General - What are your favorite cars from the 60s?

The 60s is one of my favorite decades as far as cars go.  Its also the last decade where most cars where completly mechanical.  So here are my top 10 cars and honorable mentions:

1. 1965 Shelby Daytona Coupe  American race specifically build to take on Ferrari and the 250 GTO.  Won its class and came 4th overall at 1964 24 Hour of LeMans race.  Since only six where build its also extremly valuable.

2. 1964 Ferrari 250 GTO  First Ferrari supercar and also very successful race car.

3. 1966 Ford GT 40 Mk II Another American race car build specifically to take on Ferrari.  Powered by a seven liter V8 engine it won at LeMans in 1966 and the second and third place cars where also GT 40s.

4. 1968 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale 2 door rear mid engine sports car powered by a two liter V8 it was from the Tippo 33 race car.

Honorable Mentions:

1962 Ford Mustang I Small mid engine concept car that eventually lead to the development of the Mustang.

1965 Plymouth Barracuda Since it actually was released two weeks before the Mustang this is the original pony car.  It started out as a slightly redesigned Plymout Valliant.  It has a very unique rear window but is nowhere near as stylish as the first Mustang which sold a ton more.

1966 Nissan Silvia The first generation Silvia which is also very rare since only 554 where made its styling is similar to the Lancia Fulvia coupe.

1963 Corvette Sting Ray Coupe My favorite second generation Corvette I especially like the split rear windows.

The GT 40 is, to me, one of the most beautiful cars ever built.

I've always liked the Camaro from the late 60s.  My older cousin used to have one for drag racing and he'd test it out on our road.  I always ran to the window because it was so loud and it looked so awesome.

Big fan of Corvettes from that era. As well as

1969 GTO.
1968 Roadrunner,
and 1966 Iso Grifo

1966 Ford GT40
1967 Shelby Mustang (Eleanor)
1967 Pontiac Firebird
1968 Chevy Camaro
1968 Dodge Charger
1969 Dodge Charger (General Lee)
1969 Dodge Challenger
1969 Pontiac GTO
1969 Chevy Chevelle

American muscle owns the 60's and early 70's for me. The late 70's Euro cars take the lead, especially the exotics.

Pretty much anything that isn't a Ford, the GT-40 being the exception. Honestly IMO the 60's was the best decade for cars. Pretty much every manufacturer had line of gorgeous cars. These are some of my favorites in no particular order.

Nice, its kinda odd that all Mustangs from 1965 through 1973 are considered first generation Mustangs even though they had four different distinct exteriors in that time span.
