It seems silly to describe selective explanations as "doom and gloom" when your own comment is equally selective.

Does not compute.  What does being selective have to do with being negative or not?

Because it's a little hypocritical to criticise others for selective negativity while at the same time presenting selective positivity. Why is that complicated?

Didn't buy it yet cuz I don't have a Switch, but come the holidays my wallet is going to be dead. I'm probably going to end up spending at least 600$ for the Switch, Mario Kart 8, Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Fire Emblem Heroes, Arms, Splatoon 2...that's way more than 600...I hope I can pay my rent.

No reason to buy them all at once!  Get two at a time, finish them, then the next two!

But I haven't really played games in a while (well, I made a huge exception for Zelda), I'm going to have to binge on them during the holiday!!! I guess I could miss out on...no, I want to play all of these... I also need the Pro Controller too. The issue is all these games will be available when I'm able to get the Switch so it's hard for me to say no if they're there. If my money is funny I'll come to my senses though

Also some other things to take into account, MK8D also beat MK7/8 in the UK, and in COMG (Japanese pre-order numbers) MK8D beat out MK8 (Though ratios can mean it could go higher or lower), so it's not far-fetched to say that MK8D has done 1m+ FW, if you were doubting it still.

Biggest opening in franchise history, beating out MK Wii, and people are still downplaying. Wow.

Not surprised, though.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

I remember a time when all music movies and games were released exclusively on a Tuesday.  Now, Friday seems to be the in thing.

Only Nintendo does Fridays I think. Third parties still mostly go Tuesday. Even on Switch.

They certainly have a habit of it.  I think others do it as a one off here and there for special situations.  Music is getting more spread out than just Tuesday as well.

Wow that is impressive! So like 750k+ WW day 1 probably. incredible! Small userbase, 3 year old port, but its the Switch and the best version of Mario Kart ever so MONSTER SALES. Looks like I was wrong thinking MK8D would sell really well but not crazy normal MK types numbers. This thing is gonna be huge. Can't believe it beat MKWii day one sales that is nuts.

Because it's a known trend that regardless of the positive nature of Nintendo news that a "select few" individuals cannot allow such threads to exist without interjecting a negative perception regardless of the tenous nature of the notion or how far the goal posts must be moved to validate their negativity.

Hypocritical is not holding any of those same standards or perspectives to the console of their own choosing.

That aside, I didn't select the positivity, the news itself is positve.  That said, are you going to point out the members that have selectively countered other members positive posts in this thread?  It would be hyprocritical not to.

That's hardly a trend reserved to Nintendo news :p

It is indeed overall highly positive news, but your comment was still focused only on what makes it appear even more positive. Sony fans did the same thing with Horizon's week 1 victory over Zelda. I don't have an inherent problem with people focusing on 1 side of an argument (as long as what they say isn't strictly wrong), but i think it's silly to do so while criticising the reverse.

I'm a bit confused by the last point. I was addressing selective negativity 2~ minutes after my post to you?

I think it's more than that, this is only day 1 on USA, stores got another big switch and mk8d restock yesterday so i think it prob reached 600k on us alone, on japan mk8d ended up with over 260pts which can mean it might open around 260k, that's already 860k, it prob did at least 40k in the rest of the world if it's close to other mk franchises bringing it to 900k, even if it only sells 100k on europe will be at 1 million sales.

EDIT: i got the japan numbers wrong, the rankings for this week puts mk8D over 450pts, so it might actually debut over 400k meaning japan + US alone is probably close or 1 million already.

I'll never be able to understand the craze with Mario Kart, I'm afraid. Those are some great sales, indeed.
