Forums - Nintendo - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sells 459,000 copies on launch day in US, fastest-selling Mario Kart in the US.

Yeah, I said wanting physical is a respectable reference. I was only pointing out that you seemed to atribute digital-only to indies in your post.

Well I still assume console manufacturers put their big games out on disc or carts still.  Having 8 games that are in cart form is a fairly low number so of course those titles might sell more is what I was trying to apply.  If there isn't much to choose from at the store then something will be chosen?

I know about digital only considering I've been on Steam for awhile now.  PC has kind of gone all digital.

I'm enjoying MK8D so bad. My cousins and some friends came to my house the past 2 days and we were playing it non-stop. I'm exhausted, I want my life back! lol

I had every MK game on the market except Wii-U, and this is hands down the best so far. Maybe the first game to cross the 10M mark for Switch? Let's see! :)

This will easily be the first game to reach that number.

Think for yourself, question authority

And THIS is why we get too many ports...

I really don't have any problem with ports. Bring them on. If you don't like 'em no one is forcing you to buy them. It's not as if you'd have Mario Kart 9 instead ready for April if they didn't have like 15 people do this port.

This should be taken as a sign of how much the Wii U sucked. Clearly, people want Mario Kart 8. But the Wii U... nope.

I would agree if not for the fact that GTA 5, TLOU etc. did so well. Clearly, for whatever reason, people aren't capable of NOT buying the same thing twice.

I'm one of those people that, unless you're emotionally or physically harming someone else, thinks that you should be able to do whatever it is that you enjoy. But for ME? I don't enjoy ports. I don't like them. I don't support them. I like new games and I would rather these studios focus on things like BOTW and Mario Odyssey and stop wasting resources on games I already played into the ground.

Bayonetta 2 and DKC: Tropical Freeze should be ported asap IMO if they aren't already. Those two games deserved higher sales.

Pretty obvious Smash was always going to be.

Take 2/Rockstar probably needs to consider a GTAV port now too. I don't like the franchise, but it would make a lot of sense.

We have to put some context around these numbers.

BotW has quite a lead. I think Zelda will be the best selling Switch game for at least this year.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

They won't hit big numbers if they have several games for the consumers to pick from.

Rabid older fanbase gets software sales more quickly? How so?

Nintendo games never pull out first week sales numbers that other big games like Call of Duty or Madden or Final Fantays or ect. do.  And I woudl consider most of them as rabid younger teen gamers. They pull like 4 million week one. Nintedo may pull huge numbers for games, but it always takes years to do.

They have more disposable income and are more well ... hardcore about their games. It's the same thing with certain Amiibos ... it was 30 year old men buying those, not kids. Same thing with the NES Classic ... virtually all adults many of whom were willing to pay 2-3x more than the sticker price.

Nintendo's fanbase in general, while it will always have a section of kids in it is majority 20-40 year olds I would say.

That does not explain why non nintendo games sell like 5x more launch week than Nintendo games.

If Nintendo gamers are all old rabid nestolgia gamers with huge disposable incomes, why do they not sell as much as the teeny mature games do on other systems?
