Forums - Sales - Why do YOU care about console sales?

Before PS3 and Wii were released, I witnessed HUGE hate against Nintendo, on a level I couldn't believe possible, and this was in many forums which aren't even specialized in games. I wondered why, and discovered there was no rational reason, people were just eager to see them die, even though nothing hinted at them even going down at the time (mid 2005 and from jan 2006 onward).
I discovered their strategy, and couldn't believe sth so well crafted would be the root of so much hate.
I became connected to this Nintendo strategy, because it looked like so insightful, see it unroll before my eyes was like validating a chess strategy, one that needs like 20 moves to succeed, and require you to fool the opponent.
Besides, it looked really interesting, what Nintendo was doing.
So, for the first time ever for me, I became interested in seeing how this would pan out, how well or bad would they do. Seeing the first moves was amazing, really. Like you're going to validate your pickup strategy going against a 10 girl, it's as amazing as that, when you see it starts to succeed.

That's why I'm here, the console sales are just a validation of the effectiveness of the strategy of each company.

I think the PS3 hate greatly surpassed the Nintendo hate before it was released. Everyone was just apathetic towards the Wii; there wasn't any actual hate per-se.

"Console Sales" People you do not really care. Does it affect your life in any way?- NO

Here's a good example why...

------------1------------

I'm in a room with a Nintendo Fanboy, MS Fanboy and a Sony Fanboy. I drop a butcher's knife with this weeks sales chart in front of them. I blink for a while, two got their head decapitated. It's just a drama that couldn't get any subtle.

------------2-------------

If I'm gonna buy a console I'd only look at the chart ones. See what sold more. Find out why it sold more. Then maybe purchase it.

Who said I was here for hardware sales.

Think twice before helping a friend in need.

It's fascinating to me that websites like this exist, where people argue and get excited over the amount of product a company sells in places on the other side of the world. Why aren't there sites like this for Microwave sales in the Ukraine, or spoon sales in Paraguay?

I'd like to get some perspective from the other posters here :D

(disclaimer - I like this site, so what I just wrote was a load of bollocks.)

 lolz.....you have a point actually!! :P

but it's like when they record album sales of different artists, people want their best artists to success!!

but this is much more huge.... also the winner console gets all fun games, that's what i care about, even if i hate games where you just hit buttons, basically, the Wii is the first console i spent that much time on.....

but, even if Wii is last in sales, i don't give a **** as long as it's fun!!

Wii console: 0595 8808 5698 2709
Super Smash Bros Brawl: 1161 1357 5188

PES 2008: 1633 5820 0347

DragonBall Z BT 3: 3823 9760 9484

Feel free to add me, and sent me a pm with your Friend Code!!

If company whos games you like is more succesful then you can be happy as they will be able to make better/more of the games that you like, so its like being able to have a glimpse into future productions.

Also when one of your fanboy friends says "360 is selling the best anyway" you can say FU** YOU! and prove him wrong with straight up facts.

Interesting points. Personally I enjoy doing research as it is a part of my full time job. In my personal time I research history, science, religion, technology, and gaming. I simply like to learn more. Knowledge is power, as cliche as it sounds. Plus the more informed you are, the less ignorant you seem when trying to back yourself up.

Have any of you ever been in a debate with someone where all they have to give is simply an uninformed opinion, nothing more? With some reasonable knowledge about the subject matter in which you are discussing, you can carry out a successful debate.

To me, debating is an experience in which both parties learn more about their respective viewpoints. Regardless of who is "wrong" or "right", in the end, if carried out cordially, both walk away better informed and satisfied...

But if you are on the internet...mabye not...lol *points to forums*

I don't really. This site has a great forum and though that, I'm pretty much updated on all the useless information I can handle. The fanboys wars a quite a blast, too.
