Forums - General Discussion - Banned From N4G? Why?

I got banned from N4G yesterday, which was the same day I signed up and made an account on their site, and I have no idea why they banned me.

Let me explain in detail what happened.

I read a story on N4G about potential names for Scorpio. here is the link.

http://n4g.com/news/2046716/xbox-project-scorpio-11-final-name-suggestions

I then decided I would post my two cents in the comments, but first I had to make an account, so I did. Same username I have on this site. Nothing profane. I then clicked on the link in my email to confirm the account, and was good to go. I then posted something very similar to this, under that article:

------------------

Xbox One X and Xbox One Elite seem to be names that are sticking around. I'm not crazy about Xbox One X and Xbox One Elite already exists.

I think it could potentially be called either Xbox Two, Xbox Four, Xbox 460, Xbox One 460, Xbox One SC, or Xbox One SE.

Two comes after One. Four since its the 4th Xbox. 460 for 4k/60fps. SC for Scorpio. SE for Special Edition or S Elite.

------------------

This is exactly what I posted if I remember correctly. Anything that might be left out would be very minor.

After posting I signed out and closed the site. 6-8 hours later I went back to the same site and article, and looked at the posts to see some newer comments. I eventually realized my post was nowhere to be found, which was odd. I wondered if there was a glitch or something maybe, since sometimes, quite rarely, when I comment on YouTube, after I sign out, my comment totally dissapears for that video, but if I sign back in, my comment appears again.

I decided to sign back in to N4G to see if this was the case, then at the top of the login pop up in a red bar it said "! You have been banned from the site".

Truthfully I don't really care all that much since I don't frequent N4G very often, and I don't comment on other sites all that much anyway, but I'm just curious as to why they might have decided to ban me?  Any ideas?

Around the Network

my best bet is that some of the names you came up with could suggest this to be a new generation and N4G might have banned that kind of discussion because Spencer repeatedly said it wasn't

"You can't trust freedom when it's not in your hands".

I always hated N4G, I just wanted to see an article and then that site would pop-up, forcing me to click on the link again. Unless I'm thinking of a different site.

That's your punishment for posting on N4G. I hope you learned your lesson.

Around the Network

Too many X's and no porn to go with it.

...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

You suggested that the Scorpio is a new generation of consoles. They might have took a bit of a stealth jab. But that seems a bit too sensitive of them.

N4G has a reputation of being a haven for Sony fanboys.

That could be said here with nintendo fans.

I don't think I've been to that site more than a few times.

Well the article itself offers suggestions like Xbox Two, and Xbox 720, which would imply next gen as well. Plus some others in the comments gave names like Xbox Two, or Xbox Next, and those posts were before mine and haven't been deleted, so I can't imagine it has anything to do with suggesting Scorpio being next gen.

Hey Eric.

The problem's been handled. I'd say the phrasing brought on suspicions of spamming by you, since that was your first user comment there. Our Spambot's a bit picky at times.

Sorry about the hassle.

!!!!!!!!!!! its a spy!

I don't remember signing up for the double agent spy game. Yikes! LOL.

This is pretty cool though. It checks out. Ban was dropped. Thanks to whoever or whatever helped to make this happen.

I guess I could have gone to the trouble of sending in a formal complaint, but assumed since it was my very first comment, that I was targeted for some specific reason and that I wouldn't get anywhere.

Clearly I was wrong. Spambot.

This VGChartz community is pretty great!
