Yeah I read what you wrote, but you only ever predict positive outcomes, so after a while it's kinda like the boy who cried wolf.

This is kind a irony, because it was said but easily most pessimistic person here on site.

I've made plenty of positive predictions; that Pikmin 3 would sell over a million, that Mario Kart 8 would outsell Super Circuit and Double Dash, heck I even thought as recently as 2014 that Wii U could pass 20 million.

I honestly cannot remember seeing you make a negative prediction about Nintendo.

Thats point, those actually wasn't positive predictions, huge majority of people predict Wii U will sell much better than 20m,from start was obvious that MK8 will have great sales, saying that Pikmin 3 will sell over 1m is positive prediction is crazy, but you look at them like positive predictions, those predictions doesn't disprove you like easily most pessimistic person here on site.

Those were all positive predictions; I argued with several posters on here who said MK8 would be the worst selling Mario Kart and that Pikmin 3 wouldn't pass a million. If I were an entirely negative person I would have conceded to them, but I stuck to my positive predictions and was proven correct in time. And forecasting Wii U to pass 20 million was unrealistically positive because it didn't even hit 14 million.

Again, what negative predictions have you made of Nintendo?

Nope, those were not positive predictions at all, positive would be saying that Pikmin 3 sell over 2m, MK8 sold if I remember around 2m in 1st week point, and huge majority didn't think will be worst selling Mario Kart, at beginning huge majority of people thought Wii U will sell much more than 20m nobady thought it will be worst selling Nintendo console ever. Like I wrote, thats point, those actually wasn't positive predictions.

My negative predictions, last one I can remember is that Nintendo will launch 1st Switch version of Zelda than couple of week later Wii U version of Zelda. If you remember, you were most pessimistic about that also, dispite evrehting pointed that Wii U version of game will be relesed, you expected worse, that Nintendo will cancel Wii U version of game. Also just few days ago in "Only Minecraft and Street Fighter for May? Can Switch sell well this month?" thread you were acused that you are very negative. And now, you are only person "concerned" about Switch 2018. lineup.

For instance, in this thread, I predict that Switch will sell around 11m, and if you look at other predictions you will thats prediction is somehow in middle of other predictions. Interesting, you didn't gave your predictions.

Multiple users here predicted MK8 would be the worst selling Mario Kart and that Pikmin 3 wouldn't break a million. If I were really so negative I would have agreed with those predictions.

Hell, there was a guy today saying Breath of the Wild will sell 3-5 million lifetime. I would've been agreeing with him if I was really so negative.

Offcourse, you want be worst in evre possible prediction.

But like I wrote, you were most pessimistic about Zelda BotW also, dipite evrehting pointed that Wii U version of game will be relesed, you expected worse, that Nintendo will cancel Wii U version of game. So yes, you are really so negative, and definitely most pessimistic person on site.

Let us put this a different way: I am pro-Nintendo in some situations. I am anti-Nintendo in others.

You, however, are always pro-Nintendo in every single situation.

I actually think it could go above 14 million since the design of Switch multiplayer is to have more than one system in the home. You could point to the 3DS numbers on this fact, but with the appeal of both home console and handheld, it immediately goes into family territory as well which draws from those Wii numbers. It will not be as much as the combined, but for this year, if they make them, they will likely sell them. At 18 million being promised, I wouldn't be surprised to see 16 million sold or more.  Don't forget that even though the system is being frantically bought up and hyped right now, the holiday always comes with a huge rush of enthusiasm and purchases.  There is no way that this system is going to level out in sales before the end of the year.

Talking also about the game release concerns, Nintendo has traditionally been split between handheld and home console.  It has been much easier for developers to commit and create games for the wildly successful portables because the handheld market is more forgiving of smaller game design. Now that they are both in one, not only can Nintendo focus all their development efforts into this one platform with all handheld and console offerings, but all the 3rd party handheld developers will begin moving over to the switch, ideally.  While this year will be initial adoption, hype, and novelty, next year will be about having multiple consoles, enlarged game library, and necessity (however I would not be surprised to see a more portable version come out to accommodate families with kids to ensure full market penetration.)  The 3rd year will be about perfecting this new industry strategy of a "versatile component-comprised system."  Wild cards are MS and Sony product reactions.

First Year Prediction: 16-17 million (or a few thousand shy of the amount shipped, if less)

Let's say, maybe... 11m by march 2018; 14m if pokemon is released before then

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

i decided to do some math out and try to find a reasonable answer. to start i calculated what the total sales would be if the total monthly sales gradually decreased by 10% of the previous month, and that came out to -

2,500,000 - March
2,250,000 - April
2,025,000 - May
1,822,500 - June
1,640,250 - July
1,475,225 - August
1,328,603 - September
1,195,742 - October
1,076,168 - November
968,551 - December
871,696- January
784,526- February

Total - 17,938,261

At first it seemed bit high, but remember - the Switch is right now the fastest selling console in the US, and there are a ton of people wanting to buy one but cant due to supply issues. AND Nintendo has announced they are now planning to supply 16 million units for the first year now instead of 8 million. So if it keeps selling well, this is not a bad estimate.

So there is my guess - 17,938,261 units
