Splatoon can hit 5 million in Japan lifetime if the Switch has 3DS-levels of sales. Splatoon in Japan is huge. Several followers on Twitter, consistently high views on YT videos...
It's entirely possible that it can dethrone Animal Crossing as the most popular IP in Japan.

Strongly disagree, 5m would be epic, 2m not too much especially if previous game on failed console sold 1.7m.

Only pokemon and Monster Hunter reach those sales lately, of course it would be epic sales Miyamoto, I'm not talking in relative numbers, 2 milion for a console game in japan is epic already

No way. 2 million seems very possible. And 5 million worldwide is pretty much a given.
Lifetime Sales Predictions
Switch: 151 million (was 73, then 96, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million)
PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 57 million (was 60 million, then 67 million)
PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)
3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

It's possible. It could happen with how early it's launching in the Switch's lifecycle. The Switch is already on track to sell much, much better than Wii U did in Japan overall. I also bet it'll be bundled again in the future. That said, it's more likely to do 3-4m in my opinion.
