But in the end IMO truly the better system won by a landslide. Sony simply did everything better than Nintendo. The 1st party output was fresh and came in large numbers, CD became a standard and their relationships with 3rd party developers was miles ahead of Nintendo.

And lets be honest. No matter how good Mario 64, Goldeneye or OoT was, the PS simply had the superior library.

I never hear someone talk about the PS1 library anymore besides FF VII, Castlevania and Crash Bandicoot. Nintendo had better games than that on their system.

Now that is just plain ignornat bulklshit my dear friend. The PS still has one of the most influential libraries of all time. I could argue with you and bring up game series to bolster mny claim, but my respoinse will be just as lazy and simpleton as yours

Nintendo has such a  history of fantastic releases but such a lack of titles for so long takes all the momentum out of it.  This has happened for almost every system except the Wii but so much of that was shovel ware and gimmicky games.  The 3DS was so slow in building momentum but eventually it did thankfully but the first year was pretty bad. The Wii U was absolutely horrid, old ported games, only got a new Zelda when it was announced the Wii U was ceasing production and a new Switch released.  I hope the Switch has success.  If it ends up getting support like the 3DS I may get one, but I have not bought a Nintendo system since the Gamecube and I actually liked the gamecube had some really good titles.

Nah, I wouldn't say that about Gran Turismo. It was the pack-in game everyone played once or twice to see shiny textures on the cars, and then realized the controls were trash, and the game was boring, then didn't play it again. I don't remember anything but indifference in the opinions surrounding that game.

Is this a joke?

I guess so GT in Europe is celebrated like a new GTA. It's one if those games which can potentially sell 2 million units in Europe in its first week and move a shit ton of hardware. GT is probably Sony's biggest IP in Europe only Uncharted can hold a candle to it.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

for being cheap looking. maybe what happened to the n64 will happen to switch too.

What I like so much about the PS1/N64 generation is that both systems pushed the industry forward in different ways. The N64 showed how movement should work in 3D and made 4 player multiplayer standard, while the PS1 was more focused on pushing forward with using the then-current technology to make games more mature and and more cinematic.

If there was ever a time when it was worth it to own both of the big 2's systems, it was that gen. Especially compared to today when there's barely any difference between the XBox, PS4, and gaming PCs. Having products that offered truly different experiences was great.
