Do we have any idea what consoles it will be launched on? I loved TS2(one of the few FPS games I have ever enjoyed, besides Goldeneye and PD). In their past Free Radical has been very platform agnostic.

Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone knows much about it. I have really high hopes for it.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

I'm thinking PS3/360 most likely.

I really hope it comes out as a Wii exclusive. I'm sure many will argue this point, but I think TimeSplitters would be well suited to the Wii audience and would become THE FPS to get on Wii, as oppose to one of many, many FPS on PS3/360.

I think this must be a really hard decision for Free Radical. Do you put it to Wii and possibly get ignored, or put it to PS3/360 and possibly get lost in the crowd?

There's more FPS fans on HD systems, but much higher costs involved too and extremely harsh competition vs none at all on Wii. It'll be interesting to see which way they ultimately go with this.

I also think that less serious style of some portions of the game make it more suitable for the Wii.  All the "hardcore" gamers with masculinity issues may have some inhibitions playing a game that's had monkeys as playable characters in the series before.  That's really just my wishful thinking, though, there, because I'd really love for TS4 to be exclusively developed for the Wii.  I want to see a quality nonWWII shooter on the Wii badly.

Free Radical have already designed an engine to run on PS3 hardware.

They've also shown TS4 screenshots of a monkey with a Master Chief suit on.

I'm convinced it will be arriving on the PS3/360.

A possible Wii port could be made.

The Master Cheif suit was an advertisement of Free Radicals website. If anything it was making fun of Halo... it was a very tongue in cheek ad(I thought it was funny).

No platform is annouced. Don't expect anything until Haze is out.

Well, most of Free Radical's releases last-gen (TimeSplitters 2-3 and Second Sight) were tri-platform, so it stands to reason that TS4 will be PS360Wii, with a possible PC port.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

I say PS3/360, as said FR have got an engine for the PS3 in Haze, and with a bit of tweaking, it wil be even better. However, the most important thing in TS is multiplayer, whether local or online, and I don't know how well a 4 player split screen FPS will work on a Wii, but one thing that is for certain is that the online capabilities of the PS3 and 360 are far better

Just a few comments FR has made on the subject:

Q: Dear Free Radical,
I’ve heard rumors that Time Splitters 4 is under development. I was wondering if you can confirm this and if it will be on all major home consoles(XBox 360, PS3, and Wii)?

A: R107 Says (FR team member):
Absolutely 100% guaranteed, yes. It IS in development. But, we’re a long way off deciding what platforms it’ll be on. Wii - Yes we like Wii too.

"I think it's a good thing to do, and I think we want to put it on the Wii. And I'm sure it's possible to do a control scheme that works. Also, if you want to start a petition for remaking Second Sight on the Wii, I'd like to see that as well, because I think that game worked really well, [laughs] because of the manipulation stuff."

"Personally, as a gamer, I think it has definite potential (as a first-person shooter controller)," he said. "It can be done, you can get really great FPS controls with the Wii. I think it has huge potential there."
