Fantastic news, less than 1 month til release, I hope it's not just a X360/ps3 port in regards the world sizes but can just wait and see what 4GB of LPDDR4 can handle!

To be fair, even X360 world sizes would be great on the Switch since it's a portable and the Vita worlds were tiny. Still, if they can manage PS4/XBO world sizes, that would be great.

Hmmm this comment makes me think you might not have played the Vita port of Minecraft, it is actually amazing for the hardware that's running it.

From the wiki

"For the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, the PlayStation Vita and Wii U, the world size is limited to 864×864 blocks. Because the outer-most block is unusable on each side of the map, it is effectively 862×862 blocks that can be used. The worlds on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 can be up to 5120x5120"

The Vita port actually gives the same "map" size of world to the player in Survival and Creative modes as the X360/PS3, really was a great port of the title, I've said it before that I think Minecraft Vita is one of my favourite games of all times just for the work that went into the port bringing a really legitimate version of Minecraft to the portable system.

Hm, I'm not sure why I thought the Vita worlds were much smaller, oh well. Nothing against the Vita, I was just misinformed.

I think it will do well, better than the Wii U version, as it is portable, but probably not Vita numbers

It's the 5inch screen no doubt :D Makes everything smaller haha.

But aye, I got lost digging pretty much everywhere with the Vita while playing Minecraft on it, It's one of the few games on psn that I have a platinum in (another game is the PS4 version of Minecraft lol) Just love the game, but the Vita really has a great portable version of it, I'm hoping the Switch port makes use of the hardware in that, really have fingers crossed that it wont just be a lazy port, if it's the 5120x5120 version it'll be day one for me.

On the Vita you can actually hop your saves back and forth from the PS3 version of the game to the portable too if you want to play on the big screen... or you can move them up to the PS4 but if you do the map size increase thing there you obviously enough can't send them back. Microsoft done good with bringing one of their flagship games to the Vita in its later life haha! Great first..... party... support...  *cough*

I'm going to get it, but not until it releases physically. Kinda disappoints me they're doing that whole delayed physical version again. But oh well.

Well I just want to add the power is not the problem why the worlds were small, the worlds are rather small on consoles because of the limitations of the save files sizes.  On PC you can go +5GB save file sizes/worlds.

Oh yeah I know, think someone told me that the theoretical max size of a world on the PC is something like 6x the size of Earth.

That thought alone would set the Switches storage on fire :D

Also 5GB of Vita storage space would cost you €11 based on the price of the 64GB card right now, would be a rather costly save file.

Both games aren't too hyped right now, but they will probably sell a few million copies. Minecraft may sell better than Monopoly, but I don't think the difference will be that big. Minecraft is already a few years old, and most people have already played it a lot, so I don't see it selling more than a few million copies.
Monopoly was quite popular on the Wii, selling almost two million copies. The Switch version looks great, and the game is perfect for the Switch since you can play it with friends or on the go.

Again, Minecraft is one of best selling games ever (actually second best after Tetris) and one of most popular, that still selling good, I dont see how that's even comparible with Monopoly game.

Monopoly is totally niche game, while Minecraft is still selling well and still is pretty popular game. You still have Minecraft showing on weekly sales onfsoftware, while you never see Monopoly. Minecraft buy VGC numbers sold around 5m on PS4 and around 4m on XB1, but you dont have any sales for Monopoly game. Like I wrote, those two games are incomparible in any case.

Also just for record, this Minecraft version can be played in local multiplayer and in split screen.

Minecraft will sell better than Monopoly, but the difference won't be gigantic. It's not like I'm comparing Pokemon to Quantum Break. Monopoly sold 2 million copies on the Wii, while Minecraft sold 5 million copies on PS4. (Yes, 5 million is more than the double of 2 million, but since there are also games selling 20 million copies and others 50 thousand, the difference is relatively seen not that big). So it's not like comparing the two is absolutely ridiculous.

Anyways, what I was trying to say with my first post, is that both Minecraft and Monopoly (and some other games) aren't games that people think of as typical million sellers, but they can end up selling several million copies (like Super Mario Maker 3DS). If you ask someone "What are the most important games the Switch is getting?", they will answer you Super Mario Odyssee, Splatoon 2, MK8 Deluxe, maybe even Xenoblade 2. Not Minecraft or Monopoly, even though they both can sell better than Xenoblade 2.

It's rather incredible how much functionality was put into the Vita version, by your main competitor no less. Hopefully the Switch version will get just as much love, if it does then I may consider triple dipping on it, can't have enough Minecraft.

Wii was casual platform and party and family games like Monopoly sold great on it, but Minecraft is seeling great on evre platform even now. If you comparing sales of Minecraft on PS4 and Monopoly on Wii, take in account that PS4 has almost twice smaller instal bases, but again comparision doesnt make any sense beacuse you cant find sales numbers for Monopoly on PS4 beacuse it has bad sales numbers.

Totally wrong, Minecraft is well known milion seller (you do realise that game sold 122m), its milion seller on every platform that was released, Monopoly was milion seller only on Wii and PC. Minecraft will easily pass at least 1m on Switch and probably 2m, Monopoly in best case will sell 200-300k, Monopoly is totally niche game while Minecraft is still pretty strong game even ofcourse its not on level of Nintendo 1st party games. So yes, comparing Monopoly and Minecraft is totally ridiculous, one is totally niche game that most people dont know that even exist, while other is second most selled game in history of video games thats is still popular and still have pretty good sales.
