Forums - Nintendo - Open Nintendo Switch User Accounts Suck

With WiiU I was able to set my user account to require a password. This was awesome as it protected my game file saves, friend lists and preferences from tampering by others. With Switch, this feature seems to have gone away. Yes, I can still lock down purchases via eShop, but anyone can easily jump in my Switch and delete or change stuff.

Granted, I'm fully aware I am just overlooking the obvious setting to enable password protection for a user. So if you know how to set this up, please feel free to call me stupid and provide the directions. Until then, I'm just going to live in fear that one of my kids will f my ish up.

Where do you live where you have to worry that someone with access to your room tampers with your console settings and deletes stuff?

The Switch experience is about sharing.

Is it hard to imagine that happening with siblings or children?

I've honestly never looked into it. No one touches my Switch but me! If they do, they get stabbed.

It's like the 3DS then

Would be nice to have extra security, but I would just use autologin anyways :p

I don't like that I cannot set an account to be the main one, ie game news only from the main account (specially when you have different regions...).

You don't need to login, you only select your account whenever you launch a title.

Settings doesn't prompt anything and you can delete any data.

I'm with you. Hoping it's something they add, soon m

Also hopefully it's not like early Vita where they ask if you want to reset the console to factory default if they miss the password a predetermined number of times. I almost had an extremely late term abortion when my daughter reset my console back when!

Or with a wife. That slithers into bed with you every night. And her tampering with your save files is the most intimate you've been in months. Next thing you know, the police are at the door. Again.

1. I dock my Switch on my main TV just as all of my other consoles.

2. Two of my children do not own their own Switches, therefore they use mine (or their brother's if gamesave is not important) - They are both saving for their own Switches.

3. Still an issue for anyone who shares their console.
