Forums - Gaming - Is there a war coming? Square Enix says it'll prioritize the Switch over the Scorpio

well? What did you expect? The Xbox is just a higher tier console in the same generation. It's priced for enthusiasts. Outside of a graphics bump up much like the pro, it's essentially the same animal. The switch is a new platform which demands exclusive games. The Scorpio will be bogged down by the original Xbox one and Xbox S types existence.

A lot of Japanese companies "attack" Xbox because it has little presence in Japan and Nintendo and Sony still have relevance in all territories. It's business, not a personal feud.

The Scorpio is not a new console, just a slightly updated X1, comparable to the PS4 Pro. All the western SE studios will support it.

As if SE can prioritise stronger hardware

lol especially in the console realm. All a rational gamer can expect from the pro or Scorpio is an optimized or upscaled experience and nothing more.

It's not an 'attack', they just know that they can make a lot more money with the Switch than with the Scorpio.

There's nothing aggressive about Square Enix prioritizing a new console over a hardware iteration.

Seems reasonable and completely understandable to me. Switch is a new console with a lot of hype behind it, and the Scorpio is a new iteration of a console that's not doing well in Japan.

Should we be surprised? Both the Pro and the Scorpio can run PS4/XBO games, so why put much effort into them, the market is already established, and unless the pro or scorpio sells bucket loads, why would you make more work for them? The switch on the other hand is a replacement for the failed wii and seems so far to be doing ok, so supporting that over scorpio seems sensible.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

I thought the Scorpio would be just a premium version of the XBONE, like the PRO is for the PS4.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Makes sense. PS4/Pro will probably be the main focus. Switch will be a pretty close secondary focus. XBO/Scorpio will just be getting ports. I do wonder if that means that SE will be a company that will just give the Scorpio Pro ports with no real extra features. I speculated that that may happen for some companies if the Scorpio isn't a big success. No real incentive to spend even more time and money if your games aren't selling that well on the system, anyway.
