Forums - Gaming - PS4 Pro, Scorpio, PC and Switch, what players want in 2017

PS4 Pro - I want great expereinces in both 4K and PSVR. I want Sony to show the value of scalable generations, and set the stage for longer hardware cycles, with more options within the cycle. Optimally, Farpoint will deliver the best FPS expereince since Killzone 3 +3D + Light Gun, and Gran Turismo will legitimize digital racing. Then the rest of the PlayStation exclusives will continue to match the level of quality, story telling, and gameplay we have seen from Uncharted 4 and Horizon Zero Dawn.

Xbox Scorpio - I want Microsoft to deliver a true premium expereince, and open up the doors of the console industry even more. I hope Scorpio can lay the ground work so we can have $1000+ console options from Sony and MS in the future. Optimally, it would be great if Scorpio sets up a future where I don't have to have a Windows PC for the highest res/fps games. On top of innovating the hardware market, I want to see Microsoft try and deliver some in house exclusive new IP on the level of Gears, Forza, and Halo. It would be great to see them build a solid 1st party line-up.

PC - After being a PC gamer from 1997 - 2013 I am done. I just don't enjoy the expereince, and anything I could suggest would not be in the vien of what the core PC gamer wants. So Optimally, they will do whatever it is that makes PC gamers happy.

Switch - I want to see Nintendo open up the system and expand their OS. The Nintendo exclusives look great, but they have proven that they can't succeed on 1st party alone. Best case scenario, they start getting Android and iOS game and app developers on board, and drive the value of the system through the roof. Hopefully, that wil be enough to drive sales to the point where we see strong 3rd party support announced ny the end of the year.

All - I want to see all three companies continue to push consoles to a broader audeince. The days of dedicated Consoles, Dedicated Phones, Dedicated Displays, ect. are over. I hope for the sake of gaming, that PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch, can become versitle enough to compete with Windows/Mac/Linux PC, and iOS/Android Tablets, Phones, and Set Top Boxes. I want devices to be gaming first, with everything else as a highly optimized addition, as opposed to the current status quo.

I decided to create this thread to try and understand what do players expect of videogames today. Mainly, because everything we see this days is criticize the hardware power and the hardware of consoles.

In fact, Sony and Microsoft follow this trend, with new more powerfull hardware.

And Nintendo doesn't follow the trend of more powerful hardware?

Ain't the Switch more powerful than the Wii U and much more powerful than the 3DS?

Nintendo made big compromises in weight, size and battery life of their new handheld just to make it more powerful.

The Xbox brand has always been my preference so I'm Scorpio all the way! Nintendo used to be my back up but after my WiiU and the Switch not looking too attractive - it's off my radar.

I hope they won't end up turning consoles into closed PC boxes...

I don't know what else to tell you, but this gen they most certainly are acting like closed PC's in boxes.

Also what's wrong with wanting games that make use of higher end hardware?, why does everything need to pander to the low end designed experiences, why can't we have both in this world?.

All I want this year are some good RTS/RPG games, but I'm only getting one semi decent RTS game and not much on the RPG side.

Did you see the insane amount of amazing console exclusive games on PS4 from the start of 2017?

I can assure you that that's what PS4 owners want and it had nothing to do with graphics (graphics was just bonus).

Are you sure graphics did not play a role in a lot of the PS4 exclusives games people are looking forward to.  I am going to hege a bet that people do not get excited just because a game is exclusive.  Instead people get excited if a exclusive looks like the upcoming Spiderman or Horizon and its exclusive.

PS4/Xbox One/Switch - games, games, games.
PS4 Pro - better support, no more lazy patch
Xbox Scorpio - 1080p60FPS ( UWP+WIn10) and 4K30FPS
PC - maybe new Steam sale or smt.

It's mostly down to money. Games are already expensive to make, so it takes a strong desire and deep pockets to be willing to simultaneously limit your market and increase your development costs.

It is possible and i wish it happened more often, but it makes sense that mid-range hardware is the go-to target (which is what i'd consider the standard PS4 and X1; the PC mid-range is targeting similar settings, just at 60fps).

I was on about us having to go with what the few on here want the industry to go for, not what devs want to. There are already devs out there that pander to those who want different experiences.

But... why?  thats too much pc like, for my likeing.

Just buy a controller, and get play your games on pc then.

Its bad enough developers have to make 2 versions of the games (for normal console, and pro/scorpio), but if in the futures theres so many configurations, its basically just a pc. That ll end up with console users haveing to fiddle with drivers/graphics settings for games ect.

At that point its just a pc. $1000+ console options is crazy.

Exactly my point. Why would we need boxed PC's if we can build our own PC for half the price?

Consoles should bring something else to the table...
