Zelda is my favorite franchise but... yeah, I'll probably move on after BotW if this is the route they're taking. I'm happy for those that like the new formula but I just prefer the old one a lot more.

just follow the main story its the same shit.

Uh.. no, just no. BotW took out most of the stuff I look forward to in a Zelda game, don't pretend that purposefully trying to play the game in a linear fashion is somehow going to make it play like the old ones.

Excellent. :)

It's bittersweet to me. I absolutely adore BotW and I definitely want other titles like this. I wish they could find a happy medium with it, as I still love the traditional Zelda of finding new awesome items to use all game.
Perhaps they'll find a happy medium for this, and honestly I would prefer it being more like 80/20 open world/traditional, but I would like to see a way for them to do some of the old stuff as well. Might be hard to find uses for hookeshots/clawshots if Link can climb anything :(

They may tweak the formula. The hookshoot was already an item in every 3D Zelda and some 2D ones. It is time to move on from those traditional items, or at least, in the traditional usage.

I think they are going to expand on the idea of runes or maybe create new items. At the worst, some traditional items are going to get new interesting ways to use them.

Very true, I would be excited to see some new twists with some old items. Would love to see some new items as well of course!

Would be even better if he announced his retirement as boss of Zelda.

He already made various hints like moving to a new IP and 2D Zeldas existence. Maybe the next one will be 2D.

Pretty sure they said the same thing about motion controls after Skyward Sword.

Either way, they're the experts. I'll be pumped to see whatever it is they do next.

Welp, thats a shame. But not really. But in certains ways it is. But not entirely. I dunno.

Wonder what this means for top down Zelda on Switch since they are technically open world.

Motion controls are in BOTW so they're right about that, a number of puzzles are similar to the concepts in SS.

This is true. Motion aiming actually works rather well in BotW.

For whatever reason I thought that they were referring to the sword play though. I don't even have the quote (if it exists) in front of me though so who knows? haha

Yesterday I did a Shrine in which I had to flip 360 my pro controller to activate the six sides of a cube, thought that was fun.
