Whoa, talk about a slippery slope there, buddy! Consoles are usually accurately emulated after they are no longer commercialized. Nintendo hardware is often an exception because it's just too weak compared to the others, or based on old hardware which is already propely documented and understood by the time it comes out.
For many, many people, emulation is about preserving games and making them accessible after the consoles and cartridges or discs on which they originally run are long gone. Just think about how every single day that goes by, literally thousands of Playstation, SNES, N64, Xbox consoles etc. and their respective games cease to function. Not every game is going to receive a virtual console (where many titles were actually pulled from the internet, and are the work of people who emulate games) or remaster treatment.
