Forums - Gaming - It's a sad day - I have lost 5 years/300GB of my PS3 game installs and saves :'(

I still don't understand how the data was lost though. Did your hd simply stop working due to wear and tear, or was there a technical reason?

I don't understand it myself. I didn't do anything to old drive, just connected to PC. Well I started cloning it sector by sector to the new drive, but it would have taken hours and it slowed down my work pc considerably which is quite an old pc, so I canceled the process.

May your dearly departed data rest in peace. It's gone to a better place, but unfortunately not to the cloud. My condolences.

Hey! They got SONY on my amiibo! Wait a minute. Two great gaming tastes that game great together!

Same happened to me. But you'll get over it I promise. After it happening to me, I started uploading save data to the ps+ cloud (yes, I had the thing but never used up until the hd broke).

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...

sorry... there are so many different ways you could have avoided all this though. Now its all for naught.....

but even if you don't have PS+ to upload your saves t the cloud, using a simple 8GB USB flash drive you could have saved all your save data. Or even plugging your phone in as an external storage device...... sigh

sucks.

I feel you. When my OG PS3 broke, I felt like crying. Everything died with it because the HDD won't work on anything, else. You can and you must live on. Be strong, man.

All lost like tears in rain. My 300gb hdd was full and I wanted to clone it to a 1TB hdd but unlike the third party software instruction turned out it was impossible because PC can't see PS3 data. I put the old hdd back in PS3 and nothing happened. I went to recovery screen but couldn't restore anything. I had plans for trophy hunting, at least a few platinums, now I can forget about that =( It would be a colossal waste of time to replay my games back to the old state.

PS+ from now on and USB drives.

Also still a chance to recover it.

That's interesting, but when you connect a PS3 hdd to PC, it simply shows as unallocated space, so even this wonder software can't help cos there's nothing to work with..
