Forums - Nintendo - The story of 3 switch third-party games.

They or the retailers can always lower the price. Are you interested in those games? Maybe its better to buy it on another platform that you own. Or maybe the "Playing it on the go" interest you? Because that is the main highlight for all of these third party games.

3DS games cost less than Wii U games and the 3DS had carts, too. It's certainly not the carts that make the games more expensive. I can't believe people continue to bring this up after decades of handheld games being released on the same medium without being more expensive than disc based media.

3DS is pretty low performance though, development costs would be much lower and the games are hardly technical showcases. Those games would often be more comparable to android and ios games that often sell for pence. Some 3DS games are 1Gb (i.e. 128MB in size) too so costs are lower again, they are generally smaller. However that said it is what Nintendo believes will be an acceptable retail price, they will always push for the best profit margin. It's clear Nintendo wants to push the Switch as a home console as well as portable probably to justify the increase in price in software. You could look at your argument another way and state is it the huge costs of cartridges that make android/ios level performance games so expensive on DS and 3DS?

Remember many android games now are hugely impressive and comparable to Switch performance easily.

^ this.

Its price+better graphics

vs

being able to "play on the go".

Rime/Minecraft arnt "on the go" type of games imo.

And being a grown man, playing a Lego game, on the go (bus, train)? <.< too embarasing.

It's Nintendo who cares

Quality argument right there...

Minecraft is perfect for portable, just look how vita version did.

Wow...Rime costs $10 more on the Switch? I wanted my Shadow of the Colossus fix on the switch, but I might just step back now. Nintendo should create devices that make the developmental process easier and cheaper if they want the attention (not more expensive). I really wanted to play smaller games on the go. I dont know if its worth $10 more though.

Third parties suck and like to screw over Nintendo console owners. This has nothing to do with the manufacturing costs of Switch cards.

No, Rol. It has everything to do with manufacturing costs. This isn't a cartoon. There are no dastardly plans. Just a reality the was obvious the first time people even mentioned the word "cartridge."

I think they are just taking profit of the new released console but what they did with lego is way more offensive, the other games will eventually get cheaper but Lego will require yo to have always 13GB occupied for a game you own physically just because they wanted to save some cents per cartridge, that's ridiculous.

Luckily this cases are exceptions and not the rule.

Then I wonder why only 3 of them are having this problem

Jeez...I want this thing to succeed, and I'm happy to hear that the launch went well, but there are SO many red flags for me that I can't envision a scenario where I'd ever own one. Seriously, in terms of "nish nish" design choices, and just general weirdness, the Switch has more eyebrow raisers than any portable or home console I can think of. This one isn't especially terrible, and is thus far an isolated occurrence, but requiring essentially 2/3 of your physical game to be downloaded is absurd. The only worse instance of this I can recall was the Tony Hawk 5 shit show. I'd rather pay more and have the full game on the cart. Also, an option to buy a non baby-proof edition of games would be boss. I realize it's a benign substance, but I don't want that crap on my games, rubbing off onto my fingers and whatnot. It's breakfast time!
