Forums - Nintendo - Share Any Zelda BotW Criticisms/Issues!

I wouldn't call exclusively issues or criticism. Just want to share my opinion and expectations so far. Spoilers obviously:

- No problem with stamina (I have already upgraded and help a lot for exploration).
- No problem with weapon degradation. My concern is that I run out of space all the time even with the expanded inventory, so I have to throw a lot of weapons. I have alot of cool ones like elemantal and guardians lances, axes and swords.
- Framerate drops are pretty noticeable at the Master Sword location. Btw, getting the sword was very flat and anticlimatic compared to the other games, but I liked the Lost Woods. (you don't even need the torch...)
- The scenes and VA is good, but while the story is dark, I get the vibe that they softed a lot. Wish they go all dark the next time. Similar to OoT and MM. Even TWW.
- Once you have great weapons, there's no incentive to keep attacking enemies campents. It would make you waste your weapons more than the reward.

All in all, I believe this game was done to not be explored 100% at the first time, but more through many playthroughs.

I think the game has a lot of replayability.
Oh and memory 15 is by far the one I like most.

Variety of enemies. Compared to previous Zelda games, even if the AI is exceptional, there's not much enemies. They recycle a lot and give them new colors. At least they have new abilities when you switch regions...

The framerate drops aren't too bad, but they are noticeable. In the Lost Forest where the Deku Tree is, its bad.

Weapons break way too easily. Some after just 10 hits on an enemy.

The blood moon comes up way too often. I don't mind enemies respawning. Its just annoying to wait for like 20 seconds every time it happens. Sometimes only like 10 minutes between blood moons.

That's it for me really. I don't mind most of the things other people may find to be a negatives such as graphics, lack of music, limited by rain, stamina etc...

The blood moon is there so the game can respawn the enemies you've killed. This way you can infinitely loot the items, for example. If the game didn't do that, it would be possible to run out of things to do, and resources specifically (like weapons). I'm not 100% certain of this, but it wouldn't be surprising to me if mining spots respawn during blood moons as well.

Now the game doesn't have to do that specifically, they can just respawn the enemies off screen, but Nintendo has a habit of giving a meaning to everything, so this was them doing that to make the game more immersive, which it does. It's also very clearly a call back to the three day cycle in majora's mask. Wouldn't be surprised if NPC routes are scheduled to that as well.

You got that wrong. In most places enemies respawn if you've left the area and a certain amount of time has passed. The same holds true for mining spots and other resources. The only things that the blood moon respawns are content for skull-like treasure chests and the enemies guarding places with such treasure chests, and the blood moon also causes an immediate respawn of enemies in the area the player is in.

The more important function of the blood moon is to level up enemies which includes all camps with skull-like treasure chests, whether you had them looted or not. This is done so that regardless of which direction the player went, the game becomes progressively harder the longer you play. For example, red Bokblins will be substituted with blue ones, blue ones with black ones, black ones with silver ones. Not all of them at once, so it takes lots of blood moons until you encounter a camp with several silver Bokblins. The frequency of blood moons seems to be tied to the player's progress, so the faster you find more powerful weapons or opportunities to grow stronger in any permanent manner, the shorter the intervalls between blood moons are probably going to be. I think the amount of camps you raid also plays a role in this; then again, taking down a strong Bokblin will net a strong weapon, so it's more or less the same thing as the aforementioned one.

Or maybe the blood moon isn't the reason why the enemies in camps get stronger over time. In that case the blood moon's main purpose would be restock for skull-like treasure chests which isn't particularly useful, because there are plenty of better ways to get resources. In case anybody wonders, enemies outside of camps do not get stronger.

That explains a lot. I'd recently realized that, whereas I once was excited to find a Knight's Broadsword, I'm legitimately leaving Royal Broadswords behind (despite a ton of additional weapon slots) because it's just too weak compared to what I have, and I generally have like 5 Royal Bows and a couple Lynel bows at any given time... was thinking to myself "How the heck did this happen?" lol

That's actually something that tells me both the recent Jim Sterling and Slate reviews did not play the game nearly as long as they claim to, as their concerns about weapons breaking and not having any seem like such an early-game problem.

Let me craft arrows, you son of a bitch.

Why does it let me sell my armor but not my weapons?

Because no one wants weapons that break after a few hits...

Agree. Also they should let us throw bows and shields in the same way that weapons.

Methinks the armorsmith from Ghosts and Goblins has been dabbling in weaponsmithing lol
