Yes theres the large map , another key component seems to be the go anywhere do it how you want scenario , so you have a main quest but you can complete it at your leisure ,and the world has many side quests and exploritory options, they beside filling the world with purpose act to train and build up your character with skills armor etc.
Zelda is made for this type of game , what I would like to see is a bit more structure return in the way of traditional dungeons with out diminishing the expanded exploration and not havemost of the tools available so early on, now I understand why they did that in botw since they wanted to show off the exploration and had introduced the shrines to facilitate that end , but with a future game they no longer have to push that side of the game play so hard so the balance between structure and freedom can be tweeked.
