I was excited at first, but the more I learn about ff7 remake, the less excited I am. No turn based fights. No original plot. It is a retelling from what I've heard... Whatever that means? It is so different that Nomura said that HD remakes of Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus, etc., would not make sense along with FF7 remake. And no, a remake just needs to be basically the same game with a few enhancements like graphics, new bosses, remixed soundtrack, etc. Just like with the remakes of FF1 through 6! Otherwise it's a reboot or reimagining like DMC. I hate those! Look at what a failure DMC is compared to the originals.

Nomura said that the essence will be the same. The essence? Way too vague. OK, here's my guess. Nomura: "There will be characters named Cloud, Barrett, Tifa, etc. There will be a world in danger. There will be materia. There will be fights. Ok! That's enough. Let's change everything else as much as possible and upset all the loyal fans that have been waiting 15 years for a remake! I have something to prove! Screw the millions of loyal fan base, which are mostly the one's who want this. Lol! There will be a few hundred out there that will like my new action based version, that has little to do with the original at all! Lol!!!!!"

Anyone who says that a remake doesn't need to be mostly the same, well what about all the past FF remakes (as mentioned above, plus 10 and 12) The Windwaker remake, Zelda: OOT remake, Majoras mask remake, TMNT: Turtles in Time remake, Resident Evil (original) remake, and many many more? These are faithful to the originals for the most part. Mostly better graphics and music, right? That's what us nostalgic, original fans mostly want. The newer generations mostly want newer games, not remakes. Nomura is ignorant if he makes a 75% or more different game than the original. It will deserve to fail. If he changes it too much, I likely won't buy it, and hopefully many others won't either.

Im stuck in my ways, I want them to go back to the fomula 1-13 followed.
also those people that say FF is always differnt.... yeah maybe minor stuff.

The changes with FFXV & FF7R are drastic though, and not in a good way imo.

Id much rather they be "faithful to the originals" as you put it.

I can see you are a fan, and that you understand loyalty.

For myself, Square games were once an auto buy but that time has long since passed.

FFVII is meh to me anyways, so it is no big deal to me what they do to it. I will try it and judge it the same as I do all other FFs though. I patiently wait for KH3 to release before it anyways...

Resident Evil Remake HD was very different from the original. It had rooms, puzzles and items that didn't exist in the original. Zombies didn't come back to life if you didn't burn their corpse before. You couldn't get zombies off you with a tazer or knife before. Etc.
Your "mostly the same" criteria is a very vague description. There's no one specific formula that all remakes follow.
As for "Mostly better graphics and music, right? That's what us nostalgic, original fans mostly want.", a Remaster falls under that description as well.
And that's not what all nostalgic fans want.

You can't seriously compare FF7R to DMC. This game will have the same general story, characters, towns, monsters, music, etc, as the original. That was not the case for DMC at all.

As for me, I like hearing that we'll get to explore Midgar a lot more thoroughly, and learn more aboutt characters like Biggs, Wedge and Jesse.

Are you sure there will be the same general story, music, towns, etc? It's not sounding like it. I did like the Midgar beginning quite a bit though. That could turn out well.

I'm a big fan of VII but I'm open to them changing from the old game. I don't think the old game with a new coat of paint would be as fun today as what I enjoyed 20 years ago. FFXV has a great game engine and world IMO - it is just lacking in story and some parts are too linear. A FFVII story in a FFXV engine sounds pretty cool. I'll reserve judgement.

Indeed... Indeed.

I'm a bit worried since he is re imagining it as well, but at least it is not compilation of Final Fantasy VII which is positive potentially for the franchise, but the problem I have with compilation is FF7AC-Cloud, which is the Cloud I imagine this game having.

Might be more annoyed if it was an FF game I really liked. But thought 7 was the weakest of the PS1 ones anyways. So yeah they can screw it up all they want but they won't get a single penny of my money for it and that hack nomura will always be the cunt that killed FF for me.

I understand your feelings there. I preferred the classic Nintendo FF games myself. FF4 is my favorite. I did like 7 too, but it should have been named something other than FF. Maybe Final Sci-Fi?
