Forums - Nintendo - Do you like the Switch as a handheld?

I know a lot of people dislike the fact that the Switch isn't particularly strong as a console. It also has some syncing issues with the blue joycon, so there's that as well.

I'm not seeing a lot of talk about the Switch as a handheld though. How much do you like it?

Personally, I'd give it a ten. It has the sleekness that gives off a Google Pixel-like vibe (or a PS Vita vibe), and yet it manages to be insanely stronger compared to the 3DS. When more games come out for it, I don't think it'll be a debate for anyone on the fence. I got it recently- could've managed without it, but oh boy- for anyone who was a heavy 3DS user like me, you'll be pretty happy.

I only use it as a handheld so... Yea! I don't treat it like a console cause as a console, it has too many urghhness and its not even about the power issue. Zelda lags in docked mode while in handheld mode, it doesn't. That right there is already enough reason for me to not play it as a console. And I am not a fan of the joycons being used as controllers separated from the switch. And 720p/900p doesn't look very good on my 4k tv either... Oh and I am afraid the screen will get scratched thanks to the dock thing...

Seems like most people prefer the Switch as a handheld, the console side seems somewhat underwhelming.

yeah.
actually, i have already posted my handheld dream switch design: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=225569

As a home console, it's lacking. Some basic things like video services (Netflix, YouTube), or a messaging system are not present (yet?).

As a handheld, I think it's every handheld gamer's dream, mine included! It's super sleek, powerful, while still being small enough to be portable!

I love the way switch feels

Brought it to a Smash tournament on Saturday and brought it to School today and yes I do and I even played Fast Racing RMX with a Friend.

The Switch gives me eye cancer as a console, but as a handheld, I would definitely give it a 10 also.I wasn't gonna play BotW until it was playable on CEMU since it looks awful on both Wii U and Switch, but in handheld mode it actually looks pretty decent.

I play it on both. I somewhat prefer Zelda on the big screen, since it's such an immersive game, and the handheld doesn't really do it for me the same way. I also can't play it on the handheld more than an hour or so before my eyes start to hurt. Not sure if it's my old man eyes and I can't handle the resolution, or if I need to learn to hold it further away from my head. I never had this issue with my 3DS.

Either way, I love having the choice. I'm going to visit my family next weekend, and it's awesome knowing that I'll be able to keep playing Zelda while I'm out of town.

I don't have one, but I would mainly play it as a handheld..
