How about this. Is BotW better as console or handheld game?

I don't have a Switch, but I think it's amazing something of BoTW's caliber is able to fit in such a small screen and be playable on the go. I don't think even the Vita can process such a game and thats probably the most powerful dedicated handheld on the market.

As a console game, I think it's still great, since I have the Wii U version. It's 3D Zelda, just revamped and inspired by the original Zelda.

I don't know, I play it in both modes since the Switch is literally with me everywhere I go, it's just a good game. I prefer the big screen because you can see more details that you might not notice on the smaller screen but the game plays great in handheld mode too. Since you can save anywhere and the console save states your progress in low power mode, you are not really restricted either way.

The's a difference between  telling whether a game is good or not and figuring out how good a game is, the latter is something that requires actual hands on play with especially with a game with as many things to do in it as BOTW. Believe me what you've seen in any video is not even close to half the things in the game so he's right in that sense even more so as the game is one that rewards players for literally playing in any way they want like someone has just mention, so watching a video of someone else playing how they want will never give you the full picture.

That is perfectly fine. I'm sure it is a good game. What i said is that it isn't comparable in innovation to Ocarina of time, and i think that's undeniable.

Btw i do have the game now and i still think that. It's just the hype talking to say otherwise. Sweet game for now, though i'm not fond of items that break.

Oot and SM64 revolutionized gaming- BotW and (probably) SMO will revolutionize current existing franchises

Unless we get something that's unlike any other, I think older games will stay as revolutionary. There's not much we can do besides making games better

I mean it's definitely a console game foundation due to size and how much time you can spend doing things.  But on the other hand, I have enjoyed it greatly in handheld mode.  Despite the scale, things are dense enough to get a good ammount of stuff done in the 2h45 to 3h15 that the battery life affords you.  And while docked mode has occassional (often odd) framerate dips, the handheld mode has next to none.  And the screen is vibrant and crisp enough to see details and navigate menus.  It works as a handheld game despite its console foundations.  And it is dang impressive on a device this small.

Also, to put my 2 cents in on the main topic, MC is an aggregate of many scores from sites whose qualifications for scores are different.  As such, I don't like addressing whether it is worth EXACTLY 98.  Rather, I will say it is very much worthy of very high praise based on the numerous hours I've put in.  There's so much to discover and do and lots of little surprises.  Its artistically beautifully executed, at times looking absolutely gorgeous.  It's fun and engaging and the world has a very nice tone alternating between somber, cheerful, playful, and even a bit grim at times.  It feels like a cross between Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and maybe Chronicles of Narnia (the first book) in terms of tone, with its looming and threatening villain, sense of wonder, but also almost fairy-tale like whimsy.  Gameplay is fun, nice degree of challenge, and all the mechanics create opportunities for creative solutions to challenges.

I'll say this, it's definitely a lot better than 7.6 or whatever :P

I've only played it on the big screen, so I'd say probably better as a console game...? I mean, this game is pretty big, world wise and there's a lot to take in, so I think it'd be better to play on the TV. But at least there's that option to play on handheld as well.

It is one of the best games I ever played in my life. But the story is bad and the voice acting (Zelda) is horrible, it could not be much worse.

I wonder why it it should not be possible to have both an open world and a great story at the same time. I wish it was more like Xenoblade Chronicles where the story is strong and keeps you playing. Here the story is so bad that you don't want to know more about it. Kind of like Skyrim.

So I think the game is overrated for this reason alone.

I like it. But I recommend you to look at some youtube vids first. If you like what you see, then go for it. If not, just move to next game.

A game is as good as much as you like it.

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

You know, I've never played a Pokemon, Madden, Souls/Bloodborne game, or any number of franchises. They get good/great scores and I think, "Hmm... Not for me, but good for them." and I go on with my life.

There are games that I had played and thought they were crap despite their high scores, great despite scoring poorly, and everything in between. It's just a matter of taste and opinion. Like I said before, I can't stop playing Zelda and I can't remember the last hand that I've logged in so many hours despite having no free time.

I restarted FFXV twice and I'm still barely anywhere. I've barely gotten past the tutorial in Dead Rising 4. I played Horizon until I got the (I think it was called) Bow Caster weapon and quit that game. Meanwhile I'm Averaging six hours a day in Zelda--and I only installed the app on Monday. No idea how much I've played on Fri, Sat, and Sun!

If any game deserves these high marks, in my opinion, it's Breath of the Wild.

I most enjoy it on my big tv screen, but I have also played it as a handheld many times as well.  The game is beautiful and epic, which is why I most prefer to play it as a console.  But, the mini tasks and shrines you can do lend themselves to short mobile gameplay spans nicely.
