Does that come with the Switch? I have yet to pick up my Switch.

Yes it comes with it.

Yes it does

Great to hear! Thanks very much!

I had my doubts with the Joycons being so small, but from what I am hearing, it's comfortable, even when held sideways

Nice to see others agree with the grip as well

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

I never had a problem with small controllers, after all I love the DS3 but the joycon grip is the most unconfortable piece of controller I ever had in my hands. I expected way better since the Wii U gamepad felt pretty good.

Currently I play without the joycon grip which is way more comfortable but still feels as if I'm holding 2 much too small cheap plastic toys in my hand. I ordered the pro controller in hope that it's a bit better.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

It's pretty good, I mean you could make due with it for sure.

That said, having played with the Pro Controller, it's not much of a contest, Pro Controller is superior by a lot. The button size difference is the main thing, the buttons are just so much meatier. The Pro Controller's shoulder buttons are just great too, like butter in Fast RMX, the Joycons are OK, but they can't really measure up.

Also you have no d-pad on the current Joycon Grip set up ... so I mean I have to wonder how they're going to address that especially for Virtual Console stuff ... playing Super Mario World or something is gonna suck with the analog stick or the direction buttons (either way).

If money is tight I'd say it's ok to ride it out with the Grip included with the console, but if you got a little more money to burn, definitely invest in the Pro pad.

So comfortable playing Zelda with a Joycon in each hand.

To be honest I think I like the Switch Pro pad over the PS4 and XBox One pads. It doesn't have the analog triggers, but in some games I prefer digital triggers, but beyond that I think I prefer Nintendo's Switch pad over any other controller on the market.

It's pricey, but it's a good pad. You also get a USB Type-C cable included with it, which I'll be able to use with my main Switch unit so I can charge the Switch on an airplane/train by just using a USB port. So that's nice.

Good morning, fellas. After playing Zelda extensively yesterday, I realized that the JoyCon grip feels so good in my hands that I almost forgot I held a controller. This thing diminishes my interest in buying a pro controller largely. What's your first impression?

I agree that it works perfectly well.

I have $5 best buy points to use by end of May and a $100 gift card, so I'll most likely end up purchasing a Pro controller though anyway.

But to those that dont' want ot spend the $75, the included gear is 100% acceptable. But wow do the joycons look adn feel insanely small when you first take them out of the package.

Perfectly fine. I'd like a dpad for some VC or fighting games, so I'l get one down the line most likely.

I also find it pretty comfortable playing with the joycons separated.

It still feels a bit cramped to me, and I would get a pro controller to get more spaced out buttons and analog sticks with more travel.

I look forward to hearing your opinion after playing something like shovel knight or Street fighter.

Also do the joycons not have connection problems if they are put in the grip?

Yep, maybe I get Street Fighter. I'll then say something about that again.

Nope, no connection issues.

EDIT: Of course a tradtionial dpad would feel better, but I think this button layout is still going to work quite okay. And the connectivity issues are mostly depending on the distance, not on any peripherals. The Wiimotes used to have the same problems when being too far away. So, nothing new here.
