I kinda forgot the time while playing Horizon Zero Dawn so ended up one of the last in line. Luckily not a very busy store, 30 or 40 or sold, almost all pre-orders. One guy walked in and could pick one up too. Midnight public, still 95% male, the smarter sex stays home in bed. Time to play Zelda!

I learned as i waited in line to buy food that the guy who bought the small supply of available switch's is just gonna scalp them, as he bragged he's done this a number of times and once made $600 on a ps2 lol

Still, I'm fairly confident I'll get one tomorrow morning.

Do me a favor and club his head with a brick.

I restrained myself.

The line took forever as one family spent almost a full twenty minutes at the register due to some payment problem (this being Walmart at midnight after all), and the topic of the movie Labrynth came up as he was wearing that shirt. He mentioned that his "little ones" liked the movie and then motioned to the girl he was with and said she liked it too, and I swear despite my best efforts I was never able to pin down whether she was his girlfriend or his daughter. She was one of those types that could be anywhere from 14 to 28, and he was hidden by one of the largest and darkest beards I've ever come across, and if he'd claimed to be anywhere from 20 to 40 I'd have believed him.

They were an unusual twosome that I suspect won't actually be using any of the Switch's they purchased lol

I am now a Switch owner as well xD Gotta say, I am surprised at both packages. The Switch is the size of a shoebox, while the SE of Zelda is HUUGE.

Anyways, now I'm gonna rest. Be back tomorrow at some point!

Bought the neon console and a special edition of BOTW. Debating keeping them or flipping for a small profit. I gotta say, that box for the special edition of BOTW almost makes me wanna keep it all by itself.

The Walmart I frequent most is very small, but they were still packed. Had around 9 consoles to give out plus some preorders, the consoles were all gone by 10pm. Was a much larger launch than I saw at this store for PS4 and Xbone combined.

I was #4 in line, every single person in the first four picked up the special edition of BOTW, much to the chagrin of the rest of the line as they only had four special editions. Only three copies of 1,2 Switch, which was bizarre.

Just wanted to share that there's currently a bundle available to purchase online and ship tomorrow from Gamestop. I just happened across it while checking on the status of a preordered game and leapt at the chance given I wasn't able to get one earlier:

http://www.gamestop.com/nes/consoles/nintendo-switch-with-gray-joy-con-breath-of-the-wild-zelda-guide-bundle/143152

It's $450 but includes the grey console, BotW, BotW strat guide, and the Pro Controller. All in all a pretty decent price; I'd have preferred it came without the strat guide but it's still a decent deal considering the controller is $70 and BotW $60.

No idea how long it'll last, especially given the prices scalpers are selling the console for on eBay (i'm surprised it's available at all).

Btw, why does autocorrect refuse to acknowledge that "leapt" is a word? It's totally a word! And when will autocorrect stop correcting me on the damn word autocorrect? It's popular enough by now to warrant inclusion in the dictionary.

picked it up at midnight with Zelda Special Edition, and had the Pro controller delivered earlier.

digging the Switch so far, its bigger than I realized (for the handheld portion) but feels extremely comfortable. UI is mega smooth and am enjoying setting it up in handheld mode. Originally though I'd possibly do docked a lot more but now having second thoughts, the handheld mode is nice... still have to try it on the TV in docked mode and experiment with the Pro Controller.

I have yet to use it, but the standard controller that the Joycons attach to feels surprisingly comfortable in the hands despite looking small.

Obviously still need to play Zelda but the 98 Metacritic has me mega comfortable about it and possibly I might wait for that until tomorrow.... .. thinking about downloading Fast RMX because I'm so hyped that it ended up at launch. I think I read a rumor that its under 1GB too which is great considering its Eshop only

no offense, but you're not going to profit THAT much off either one of those. If you had a Master Edition Zelda set then maybe... but even you ended up selling the neon Switch for $400 instead of $300, and the SE Zelda for like $150, that's a total $150 difference and then after fees you make like, what, $100? just seems kind of useless if you have any interest in the playing the systems. a marginal profit compared to the base cost of things

I agree though, the Special Edition Zelda box is gorgeous, it looks a lot better than the Master Edition imo surprisingly. Master Edition is more glossy looking, and the SE box has a nice matte (?) finish with the golden Zelda logo really popping and of course the same art from the regular game

I'll say I've been setting up the Switch in handheld mode and you might regret not giving it a shot if you do immediately get rid of it, it feels superb : o

the special edition Zelda set was a lot bigger than I expected, but I guess I forgot the Switch carrying case has to be bigger than the Switch + Joycons attached. Gorgeous art and logo though, surprised me a lot. Looks better than the black Master edition box IMO

Got my Switch yo! The LAST available one at Walmart (and thankfully it was a grey one).

My buddy and drop by a 24hr Walmart, and there were 12 Switch buyers in line, 13 available (non-preordered) consoles. We were (of course) # 13 and 14 which meant either one of us gets a Switch or both of us pack up and try somewhere else.. So I ended up waiting in line while my buddy goes to scout out other places, eventually ending up at Best Buy (he insisted, I swear lol). So in short - we both ended up getting a Switch, and rendevous back to his place and pop in Zelda.. Pretty interesting evening to say the least heh.

Some basic thoughts in my brief hour with the console

- Everything is so damn tiny, from the controllers to the dock to the little game card, didn't expect everything to be so compact.

- Pro controller is sexy as hell, feels great, not too light or cheaply made like I feared it would.

- Setup is pretty quick and straightforward.

- Zelda looks gorgeous, love the art style even more seeing it first hand. (rumble is so far quite subtle in my brief experience)

- Tablet is a slick little device, looks great, actually fits in pocket decently (though bulky) without the joycons attached.
- That "click feel when attaching joycons IS quite satisfying
