That's fucked up, a bunch of asshats just got hurt by their own stupidity and the first thing people do is feel sympathy on the spot as long as you've got an interesting narrative they desperately want to buy. People NEED to be more perceptive and open-minded about this stuff if they want to stop being used as tools.
