Forums - Nintendo - Zelda: Breath of the Wild review thread - 97 on Switch, 96 on Wii U

I doubt that the Metascore of 98 will last, but this will still probably end above 95. The only games the past five years to come close to that are GTA5, The Last of Us, MGS5, and Bioshock Infinite.

This is going to be the game that ends up on every Top Wii U AND Top Switch games list from here on out.

There are already 61 reviews and the game is still at 98.If I had to venture a guess, the maximum number of reviews will be around 85(thats the number that big games usually get).So I guess the minimum it can get by now is probably 97, just by the sheer number of 10s and the lowest one being 9.And I mean, even the clickbait reviews wont go that lower, if any does happen.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Gamerankings only has 36 reviews.

Only? You act like they are missing a score that will drag down the avg. The game has all 10s with a couple of 9s and betweens. Not 1 so far under a 9.

Lets not do this

Yes, only. Opencritic has 45 and it's at 97 which means that if GR adds more reviews, it will drop.

Not that it really matters at this point but I did some calculating to see if the average reviews are true to the 98%. Turns out it's just barely at 98%, by getting 97.52% with the 61 current reviews averaged, so hey game reviewers! Give this game a 0 so it'll drop down to a 95 so my prediction stays true!

You can't really do an average like that with Metacritic because they give some publications more weight than others. So a 100% from IGN is probably worth more than a 100% from Knowwhereville Daily News.

Well it's not just publication size, but also their rating system and tendancies.  Every site has a different metric by which they decide what rating a game gets.  A 10 from publication x may imply a different level of excellence than a 10 from publication y.

Curuios to see how much each game affected anothers score.

There was one preview I breifly scanned and recalled them talking about the arrow firing in both games. They talked about the physics in Zelda's arrow shooting in how you had to adjust for distance and so on. YOu know aiming ABOVE a creatures head instead of sniping in teh crosshairs. And then they mentioned how it made Horizons SNIPING arrows feel elementary or something to that extent.

Seeing how both games released within days of each other, I could see the reviewers having to review both at same time and thus may have lowered or highered one games score based on what one did better or worse than anothers.

In Horizon Zero Dawn you have more then one type of animal which you can ride, Zelda with only horses makes the experience feel so simple and elementary!!

Such silly comparisons are nonsense.

Zelda has been getting huge praise for its realism being on a level that is unheard of.

Defintely a realism that is unheard of, with it's water, wind physics, oh and those weapon animations! Oh and the somewhat good chances of being hit by thunder, that is definetely realistic!

The game has some great "realisitic" features, but it's far from being unheard of.

HZD had more reviews out and only few of them gave the game very low score which topped it under 90. I hope it wont happen to Zelda.

HZD - 93 reviews
Zelda - 60 reviews

HZD - 34 under 90
Zelda - 0 under 90

And of those that gave HZD a score 75 or below, they all scored Zelda a 100.

Well, that's good then.

I actually I do believe you could theoretically ride deer.  Haven't seen someone successfully tame one and they fight like crap but it seems you could ride them.

but yes, silly comparisons.

I will say though that it is worth recognizing that Zelda does put more emphasis on overlapping systems than Horizon.  Nothing wrong with Horizon's approach necessarily if it's executed well and reviews say it is.

Just something to point out in regards to all of the reviews and the insane praise for the game right now.

Remember the DLC coming out?

Seems the game is a complete game.

91

I have a faith in Nintendo quality. On other hand its possible some websites will give it much lower scores for clickbait, just like they've done it with Horizon Zero Dawn.

I'll compare the scores from the outlets that gave Horizon the lowest scores.

USGamer:
Horizon - 50
Zelda - 100

Stevivor:
Horizon - 70
Zelda - 100

Destructoid:
Horizon - 75
Zelda - 100

GameCritics (65) and Digitally Downloaded (70) have yet to publish Zelda reviews.

Jesus!
