-3C with a dusting of snow on the north shore of Lake Erie, Ontario. Typically stays 4-8 degrees warmer than places like London (Ontario) as long as the great lakes haven't frozen over much, if at all. Still feels just as cold though, as the water makes the air feel quite damp, and the windchill is usually quite a bit higher along the lakes.
This winter has been more "normal" I guess in terms of temps based on the past 20 years, which often stay around 0C to -5C here. The temps have been very unstable however. One day its -10C, next day its +8C, then back to -3C.
I can't complain though. Just a few years back we had 2 years in a row with temps from November through March that ranged mostly from -15C to -30C. Getting a day that was just -5C was a blessing. The great lakes were almost completely frozen over and we had practically 20 years worth of snow in just those 2.
My parents told me the last time they remember a winter that cold with snow on that kind of scale, was back in 78. Its a well known year around here because there was so much snow that people in the country were snowed in for days, numerous times, and there were warnings about children playing outside because the snow was piled high enough along the roadsides you could touch the overhead power lines in some places.
