The Wii sensor bar became obsolete with motion plus. Motion Plus could use blind tracking and pointing. Thus you had to press a button to calibrate it, meaning the pointer went to the center of the screen. This was the case in Zelda Skyward Sword and on the wii U sports remaster for example.

No it didn't become obsolete. Technically you could use the motion sensor as a replacement for an analog stick (like you do in Splatoon), but not for the pointer, because of how differently they're used. The motion plus would not work in games like Corruption or Wii Play, because they use the pointer and need to use it quickly.

You got me wrong, it became obsolete for software which supported motion plus. The old software still needed the sensorbar to the place the pointer on the screen. Therefore I've mentioned Skyword Sword as an example, because that one doesn't require the sensor bar.

On motion plus the pointer starts always at the center of the screen and according to the gyro sensor and accelarator sensor it could know where to move the pointer on screen the moment you moved the controller.

I do understand what you mean. But you could not make games like Metroid Prime and Wii Play that require you to aim fast to work with Motion Plus, because it is not accurate enough. Of course, you can always have aim assists to compensate like you do in the games with analog stick only.

Skyward Sword and WSR had very different type of pace, so it worked in those games. I agree you on a theoretical level, but not on the practical level, though.

Possible that the IR camera has only one function, being a gimmick. The only thing Nintendo showed so far using the IR camera is the sandwich eating game in 1-2 Switch.

For now it's just a portable Kinect, like the Leap Motion. Did you notice the specific setup for that eating game? To me that means the range is limited, that's why I brought it up before.

There is another use so far in a japanese launch game, which lets you make new units with the camera.
