Interesting quote from Shinya Takahashi

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/nintendo-bosses-discuss-switch-upgrades-accessorie/1100-6447600/

...Certainly, we've designed Nintendo Switch in a way that it can be used by consumers in the way that best suits them," he said. "I think we may see that people who have bought a Nintendo home console in the past traditionally, they may treat Switch like a home console and buy it and use it for a long period of time.

Whereas people who have been traditionally Nintendo handheld gamers, they may buy Nintendo Switch. And then, for example, if a new version were to come out later, maybe they would decide to upgrade to that.

It sort of hints at a handheld preferred version of the Switch releasing someday.

Definitely an interesting quote, but I'm not very sure if it's likely that Nintendo will make a pocket sized version of the Nintendo Switch. If they do, it would be very cool imo.

I hope is compatible with old joy-con

Revisions are bound to come eventually and given that Switch starts out big, it's only logical to think that the first revision will be a smaller version. Basically the reverse of the 3DS situation where the first revision was going to be an XL model.

3DS is the outlier, Gameboy, GBA & DS all had a more portable form factor as their first revision.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

When the Switch get's a price drop i see the console getting an upgraded battery life.

I also see the potential of a new Dock which would increase it's power when it goes to the large screen.

Quite sure it will happen someday. Switch needs to start making money before the revision that's supposed to replace 3DS can be released.

But I said 3DS, not Nintendo handhelds in general. The DS family eventually saw the DSi XL model which was reasonably successful, so XL was going to happen for the 3DS.

Yeah. But they failed to put out the games that made the DSi XL successful.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

A handheld SKU with no detachable joycons and a real d-pad for 200-250$ would set Japan on fire.

I know, I was just reinforcing your point that a smaller revision first is more probable.

I'm sure it will happen sometime later, question is how much cheaper would it be if it does?
I'd imagine quite considerably seeing as how the Dock adds quite the hefty chunk of money to the price.

I doubt the dock adds a significant amount to the cost. I know its $90 sold separately but accessories are typically sold at pretty high mark ups.
