Forums - Gaming - Why is Nintendo trying to forget about Metroid? They didn't learn an thing at E3 2015?

I thought the Nintendo E3 lineup was decent, it wasn't great, and it wasn't terrible. Wii U ending and making Codename NX with a lineup like that? It was DECENT. I loved Triforce Heroes and Hyrule Warriors 3DS, Miyamoto spoke about his childhood and inspiration to make Star Fox Zero? it was great! Not a fan of Animal Crossing but AC fans loved the new game and it sold well, and more. The whole thing was decent, but because of mainly 2 games, made it bad

We all know what truly happened at that E3 and I take my hat off and bow my head for the Metroid fans. I never played a Metroid game before but I was interested in one and I KNEW its one of the greatest franchise's ever. I didn't get a Metroid game until that Wii Metroid collection. I played like an hour until I gave up because the motion controls threw me off, so I didn't bother with it again. To this day I STILL want a brand new Metriod game with normal controls.

The hate for Metroid Prime Federation Force did damage to Nintendo. Remember the Petition that got 25K signatures? Federation Force did look interesting, but I didn't buy it because I wanted to show Nintendo this won't do it, look how poorly it sold. 80K sales. There was news last year saying Nintendo DID add "Metroid" to the title to boost sales, but that backfired. The trailer got a 90% dislike ratio on Youtube, and this caused other games's trailers to get disliked.

We don't see any "Metroid Prime 4 currently in development and to be relased 4Q of 2017/8". Usually when a big game is being created we hear rumors about it, but still nothing for Metroid. It's like they pretend their worse E3 never happened. As a Nintendo fan, I won't ever forget Metroid Prime 4... never ever.  I just wonder why? Metroid Prime games sold better than Xenoblade games, but they're still supporting Xenoblade. Super Smash Bros has much more work to make than Metroid. Like why are they forgetting Metroid? It's a shame.

"We haven't made a Zelda game in 6 years but don't worry! We are releasing The Legend of Zelda: Pot Smashers on your 3DS!"

Yeah, cause 25k signatures will DEFINITELY let a huge company decide to automatically spend millions of dollars on a game. Totally how it works.

How about we get 200k signatures to make Russia and Canada build a highway to connect the two while we're at it?

Retro just teased us on Twitter with PRIM rib. So they might just be making another Prime game.

I don't like your tone, but I wasn't saying the Petition was going to do anything. We all know they don't do stuff, even Reggie said it himself. But I use Signature count for Petitions to measure. If it was a Petition of 2K its not bad at all but at 25K? Ouch..

Wait until we know switch is not getting metroid to say that, if no metroid is announced this or next year then ok, but for now who knows.

25k people can be anything. hell, those petition websites can easily let a user have several thousand fake signatures. Am I against a Metroid game? No, but it seems like Nintendo is not sure on what they are going to do with it.

I'm not here trying to insult you or anything- I'd honestly rather use sarcasm than attack someone for their ideas.

If anything they should partner up with the developer of AM2R and release the game on switch.

I guess Metroid is dead. Just like F-Zero, Ice Climbers and, I dont know, Mischief Makers? Joe and Mack? Our hopes and dreams?

yeah, Federation Force didnt sell as well as they hoped, and thats me being generous. THIS was the project they decided to settle on after 3 other scrapped concepts. It wasnt in HD on a home console like we wanted, and it didnt even focus on Samus, and as a result it only sold 10,000 copies, which is disastrous coming from a big name like Nintendo.

Heres how I see it -
Federation Force sent Metroid into purgatory. and it will take a perfect, absolutely flawless Metroid game in terms of graphics, story, and gameplay for them to claw this franchise out of it. One more wrong move, and its dead
