I hope they add Dhalsim as playable character, either as a bonus for completing the game 100%, or by buying ultra street fighter 2.
One old fighting franchise helping a new one, why not?

ROSE and DHALSIM!!!! omg!!!!!!

and if ever they got capcom why not anakaris?

Splatoon filled a void in nintendos catalogue with a genre that was solely missing, a true "nintendo" style shooter. Fighting games we have Smash though.

Basically no, I don't think it will be the next Splatoon.

On top of that splatoon was something special. Covering the area with ink to win. Be able to "meld" into the ink etc.

All of it is pretty special. While I care nothing for it, I can absolutely see how they nailed it.

Arms fits none of those really.

It is a colorful quirky boxing game.  Something I can easily believe has been done before.  Maybe because it reminds me a lot of one-piece. Those fighters fight a lot like Franky and Luffy.

would you buy it if they have franky, luffy, bellamy or buggy esp character? :P

No, Splatoon is the new Splatoon.

I don't know if it will have the appeal splatoon had, especially in Japan.

That's kind of a given, as so far it doesn't appear have 14 year old girls and tentacles.

i dont like my options here. it wont be a huge success, or a fail, but somewhere in the middle around a 7/10. but it will not be the next Splatoon for several reasons.

1. Splatoon focused on gameplay first and the controls seamlessly blended into the game. ARMS worked the other way around and built a game based on controls before focusing on gameplay.

2. Splatoon was a multiplayer shooter that offered a refreshing spin on the genre at a time when FPS games were losing their touch. it wasnt overly violent, realistic, or futuristic, but had a lot of appreciated thought put into it. ARMS was specifically designed to show off the new motion control capabilities of the Switch and fighting games have had a lot of decent ground over the years. Smash Bros, Pokken, various indie titles, etc.

3. Splatoon became a community where each player's style was unique to them. different weapons, gear, and upgrades were added to git each person's taste. the only characters who were formally named were Callie, Marie, and Captain Cuttlefish, none of which were even playable. ARMS on the other hand seems determined to make all its characters staple Nintendo mascots. meaning they dont change much if at all. you just select your character and fight.

1. & 2. what are you basing the statements that ARMS was built specifically to show off the motion controls on? From what I see its very similar to Splatoon in that regard where they have multiple control inputs and you can freely choose to play whichever way you want.

3. Im pretty sure ARMS is confirmed to have customizable aspects.

I don't understand why Splatoon sold so well, but nope i don't think so.

Also i don't see Splatoon 2 selling as well as the first.

I'm willing to bet Splatoon 2 sells at least 50% more than the first.

I'm pretty sure splatoon 2 will be the new splatoon 😜

The other thing I forgot to point out...... Splatoon debuted on the LEGENDARY Wii U!! While Arms will debut on the Switch.......And how its coming out a few months after its launch......Who knows how much will that mean in terms of its sales and marketing.
