Nintendo consoles don't belong to a gen for a long time since they design their machines in such a way they don't compete or are not comparable with the competition.
Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

I'd say 8th gen if it's a "home console", 9th if it's a "portable".
8th gen
the WiiU was 8th gen aswell, but was a dud and hence was replaced in the same gen
that happened before with Sega and Atari etc
9th gen. Calling it now that Scorpio will be a next-gen console and not a beefier Xbox one.
Bet with Intrinsic:
The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.
It's last gen. Last gen power wise, and the last gen of Nintendo home consoles.
Anyway, looks like I'll be getting one of those last gen consoles day 1 after all, got bumped up on the pre-order list :) My local shop is re-organizing their list, loyal customers first before suspected scalpers. (bulk orders). One of the perks of buying physical games.
Its gen 7 !
It's actually 4th gen, because of the concept of gens and which console belongs to which is completely arbitrary. Prove me wrong.
If we consider the fact it's a step backwards, then we can't rule out it being 7th gen.
